If I had a dollar for every time I heard the old tired cliche about someone's dad or uncle or cousin being a four star general in 440 anecdotes I could retire.

They may be exaggerating a few stars but - "In 2010, RCAF reported having more than 2’200 generals, for an army of some 120’000 soldiers. After an army spokesman, the number of generals had increased by 60 % between 2010 and 2011. With my simple arithmetic knowledge I come to more 3’500 generals in the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces." http://alfredmeier.me/2011/11/09/cambod ... d-stripes/alanclarke72 wrote:If I had a dollar for every time I heard the old tired cliche about someone's dad or uncle or cousin being a four star general in 440 anecdotes I could retire.

Given a portion of the 120000 soldiers would be ghost soldiers the ratio of generals: actual real soldiers must be quite impressive.wackyjacky wrote:They may be exaggerating a few stars but - "In 2010, RCAF reported having more than 2’200 generals, for an army of some 120’000 soldiers. Imagine unmitigated tardery if the yuon invaded - thousands of generals getting into a Lexii gridlock at the front, dick measuring all the way.wackyjacky wrote:They may be exaggerating a few stars but - "In 2010, RCAF reported having more than 2’200 generals, for an army of some 120’000 soldiers. Then, 'oh shit ! Whose in charge ? No you're in charge! But you said you're in charge just before!? Fuck this, I'm splitting for Thailand.'

Didn't the Vietnamese (through metfone) give everyone in the Cambodian armed forces a free SIM card?Petrol Head wrote:

That's not even slightly transparent.
This exact same thing happened to me and we always locked our doors but a miscommunication led to the door being unlocked for a few hours while we were home and awake. We did have two private pad locked gates. We also had clothes left behind, a pair of filthy shorts. Our fault, the door was unlocked, I was just grateful they didn't kill us. A Khmer girl I know's father woke up when they were being burgled and they shot him in the face (3 years ago now). I heard that story like a week before it happened to me, eek.Walter White wrote:We found a small, long-sleeved shirt in the hallway outside the kids' room that my wife thought belonged to her nephew, but was apparently left behind by the burglar. I think they disrobe to avoid the rustling sound of clothing while crawling around someone sleeping in bed.Petrol Head wrote:Ah ok.
Does the spider man burglar thing happen anywhere else in the region ? I suspect so in Saigon, but im not sure about elsewhere.
I know someone else that was burgled while home and awake, she left the door open because her husband was 15 minutes behind her and carrying stuff and she left it open to make it easy. Someone followed her in stole a bunch of stuff, lol. Dummies, all of us.
I always thought it was mentioned for protection. " Don't fuck with me, I'm connected". I couldn't think of any other reason people would constantly drop it into almost any discourse.alanclarke72 wrote:If I had a dollar for every time I heard the old tired cliche about someone's dad or uncle or cousin being a four star general in 440 anecdotes I could retire.
I cant believe that someone would not keep the front door locked at all times. I do it here in Queensland and my friends and neighbours dont understand. I think that you were very lucky, confronting burglars is not a good idea. A mate of mine claimed that he had the only sensible weapon, a sharpened broom stick to run them through, one doesnt want to be grappling with them.
I was burgled in Perth at 7am one weekday morning, I was painting and the security screens were off the front windows. He took my sons wallet, passport and car keys from beside his head as he slept. Then ransacked the whole house, luckily my son is a good sleeper.
The police werent interested of course but I worked out who the burglar was. A Thai kid who had recently been released from jail after doing a few years as an accessory in the very nasty torture and murder of a North Perth panel beater.
He was eventually deported and ODd in a hotel toilet in Bangkok where he was working. One of his mates who I used to employ was deported to Mississippi because his dad came from there, I felt sorry for that guy.

Perhaps as someone pointed out its time to start recording places/owners so if there is a pattern a building / owner can be put on a blacklist.

I got burgled around 3am last night. When i say burgled, i mean mugged on the street
Security's really quite simple.
Lock doors that have a lock fitted. Don't leave doors unlocked other than when immediately passing through.
Use your own, good quality padlocks throughout.
Get a dog / some dogs. They don't need to be awesome giant-killers... so long as they bark at what's new and let you know something's wrong, they're good.
Over 10 years here and never been burgled.
Wander around BT like a fluffy bunny at 03:00 while pissed and stoned at your own risk...

It's quite possible, there are umpteen thousand of them wandering around being good for nothing more than collecting a paycheck and wasting oxygen.alanclarke72 wrote:If I had a dollar for every time I heard the old tired cliche about someone's dad or uncle or cousin being a four star general in 440 anecdotes I could retire.

Cambodia should rebuild the railway instead of building a canal.
