What happened to making Chuckie a mod by the way ? Clearly a good idea in the interests of balance.

As a shop user, the last point is perhaps the most pertinent for me. I don't want to fraternize a criminals shop.
It's cheaper than Lucky's and has a much better range, plus they actually put the prices on things.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

To be complete here, you said you would let the story run for "a day or so" after Super Duper posted its statement, then you would lock the thread as a "courtesy." Then, you instead locked it after six hours, and apparently not as a courtesy, but because you made a deal behind the scenes with Super Duper.vladimir wrote:scobienz wrote:I wasn't quick to close it down. I closed it down 6-7 hours after I said I would. Once the guy came on and made his statement it was inevitable that it would descend into the usual bollocks of you labouring your argument in a hundred different ways, and in increasingly shrill tones of disbelieved outrage.
I think it's bad form for you to try to control and manipulate discussions and make promises to posters just because you personally believe them. It's all very Peter-esque. And someone made the very good point that I forgot, that early on people accepted GMB's story that the blogger was not an ex girlfriend and everything in that blog was a lie. That was the consensus on the board until more facts were fleshed out.
If you allow businesses to post statements followed by promises of thread locking, the site ceases to be a discussion forum and instead is just a public relations branch of businesses that the admin favors.

I don't think the thread had run its full course. I was waiting for the part when the foreigner accused of wrongdoing asks Gavinmac for a face-to-face meeting to discuss the accusations. Of course this could never happen because a one-on-one meeting would be too much like a date and that would be totally gay.

You're welcome. I just see a lot of similarities here. In the GMB thread, everyone accepted his account, and almost everyone lambasted you for continuing to ask legitimate questions. Here are just a few quotes from early on in that thread:gavinmac wrote:And someone made the very good point that I forgot, that early on people accepted GMB's story that the blogger was not an ex girlfriend and everything in that blog was a lie. One thing's for sure, and that is Gregory sounds way too sensible and coherent for this forum.
I have never met Gregory, but, for what it's worth, I think he's given a good response and deserves the benefit of the doubt here.
I agree .... in light of this thread and the unverifiable wordpress blog, GMB should get the benefit of the doubt.
GM, I am sure you will be using your entire afternoon trying to drag dirt out on the guy, but leave the posts until you have some irrefutable evidence that this guys has crimes beyond that of being a bogan or that he once kissed his sister.
GM was then called such things as a "petty little online bully," and was even accused of buying Chuck Wow a beer once (gasp!). Then lawsuits and stabbing threats appeared, and within a week everyone on this forum had changed course, ruled it "thread of the year," and praised GM for outing GMB for what he really is.My God GM, did he forget to call you after a night of passion, or are you just that determined to have the final word?
In the GMB thread, everyone said that GMB brought it upon himself, and if he just stopped posting it would all go away in a day or two. In the SD thread, GM raised additional questions. It would have been great if SD could have come back and answered them - maybe they would have, maybe not. If not, it probably would have run its course in a day or two anyways, so why close it?
I understand that an agreement was made, and that Scobie is a man of his word and doesn't want to renege on that, which I respect. I'm not sure why he made that "deal," and he has admitted that in retrospect it may not have been the perfect way to handle it. In this case, I'll give Scobie the benefit of the doubt, and I just ask that in 3 months when the SD Canadian makes the press again (which, at this rate, is inevitable) that a similar deal isn't made.

Actually, this is what you said:scobienz wrote: I said that I would then allow a length of time for people to make their reply comments (which they did), and that as a courtesy I would lock it.
That may or may not have been the right call, but I made it and i keep my word.
and then you locked the thread 6 hours later. Just sayin'.I'm going to let this run for another day or so
..and if you disagree with me, you are one billion times WORSE than HITLER!!!

Do they stock Haribo wine gums or do I need to bring my own next time ?
I love supermarket threads but it's just not the same without One Potato or whatever his name was.

I went into Smile last night, and they had a special offer on Snickers: Buy 2, get 1 free.Mr Lovejuice wrote:I went into a Smile mart yesterday. According to the other thread , a chain owned by the same guy. $1.60 for a Snickers! The guys definitely a criminal.
I only wanted one, so I took one of the free ones.

I am shocked and dismayed to point out that the locked thread discussed here about the Super Duper owner allegedly holding a shoplifter for four hours and trying to extort $2,000 from him has apparently been deleted or moved to the hidden "admin only" part of the site:
See here
Has Super Duper started advertising on the site now or am I missing something? How else do we go from "I only locked it because I promised the guy I would and maybe that was the wrong call" to then secretly deleting the whole thread sometime later?
