Johnny the Frenchman??
Johnny the Frenchman??
Ran a little bar restaurant in the late 1990's/early 2000's? Somewhere in the general vicinity of Freedom Park. Very likable, but a bit of a lush. Anyone know what became of him??
Whats does "a bit of a lush" mean? Sounds like something a teenage girl would say when referring to a boy they have a crush on.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

And for the OP, surviving 1990s era Phnom Penh pissheads are as rare as hens teeth.

You were specifically one of the survivors I had in mind. You're living proof a rigorous exercise regime will make you bullet proof.horace wrote:^^I was having a beer or two with one this afternoon an 85 year old at that.

Are you talking about Johnny of 'Chez Johnny's' Fame? I suppose there was plenty of lush grass around that place. Not a million miles away from 'Freedom Park'.

Must be Johny from "chez Johny" indeed.
He is either at his restaurant in SHV's victory hill or in his country side home in a further north province.

Are you sure about that? I remember he got arrested with a gun and was deported and I didn't ever hear of him coming back.Barang_doa_slae wrote: He is either at his restaurant in SHV's victory hill or in his country side home in a further north province.
Oh no, he is most certainly back. Doing well except for that little stabbing incident at his barbackhome1 wrote:Are you sure about that? Johnny of "Chez Johnny" is indeed alive and well in his little place "Johnny and Leap" (or is it Leak) on Victory Hill in Sihanoukville. I had dinner with him there last week. Yes, he was imprisoned following the aforementioned gun on the bar incident about ten years ago, but he was never deported. As for the stabbing incident in S'ville, the case was dropped after the barang who accused him never showed up in court, though I can't imagine said barang's having the boys in blue already looking for him on another matter had anything to do with that.
You left off the part about what a "good bloke" he still is, if you disregard pulling that gun on one of his staff and the stabbing.Lord Mango wrote:Johnny of "Chez Johnny" is indeed alive and well in his little place "Johnny and Leap" (or is it Leak) on Victory Hill in Sihanoukville. Do all that and you're still firmly within the "good bloke" category in Cambodia.michoacan wrote:You left off the part about what a "good bloke" he still is, if you disregard pulling that gun on one of his staff and the stabbing.Lord Mango wrote:Johnny of "Chez Johnny" is indeed alive and well in his little place "Johnny and Leap" (or is it Leak) on Victory Hill in Sihanoukville.
