I'm surprised gusone or krisduncs didn't bring that to 440's attention:
There are some great lines in there:
"Following news of the arrest, an atmosphere of awkward silence and apparent censorship descended upon a popular Kampot social media group. According to many residents – some of whom said they were banned from the group for trying to talk about the drug bust – multiple articles, comments and entire conversations were repeatedly purged from the Kampot Noticeboard, prompting allegations of censorship.
“This news made the national papers but is repeatedly being censored from this board,” argued one angry resident, calling on admins to justify the repeated deletions.
“I posted this challenge in the group because I saw it as blatant censorship of the whole issue,” said another Kampot resident. “Then I noticed I had been banned, too.”
While some residents labeled the alleged censorship “suppression of information,” other Kampot residents said that admins were attempting to protect the privacy and dignity of the accused men, which the media had not, according to them.
One group admin argued that they had the right to run the noticeboard as they pleased, and reserved the right to delete posts they regarded as gossip or that were “deemed provocative,” prompting allegations of hypocrisy when others pointed out that plenty of other “gossip” frequently remained undeleted.
Mr. Demyanov has sided with the group’s admins and expressed thanks to them for deleting articles, alleging that newspaper coverage of his arrest in Kampot and past charges related to drugs in other countries was “slanderous and inaccurate.”
Last year, during the coverage of the rape and sexual assault allegations against Nicholas Laycock at the Arcadia Backpackers Hotel, certain elements of the community were accused of closing ranks and attempting to suppress critical coverage of the event.
At that time, multiple newspaper articles, conversations and posts were also deleted from the Facebook group in question, prompting allegations of a cover-up.
This Khmer Times reporter made a further attempt to speak with members and admins of the Kampot Noticeboard group this week, only to notice that he too had been banned without any notification or reasoning."

I went down 2 Kampot last month 4 the C festival innit, and this dude's bar is literally yards away from where all the top cops in the country were stationed/gathered.
Lets hope said dude was not stupid enough to open his public house slash bedroom slash grubby backpacker stoners den on that weekend!
Maybe the smell wafted over 2 da law or some soap dodgers gave da game away innit.
I don't toke any more bro makes u stupid, trust me bruv I know I used to be a fine walking talking typing example. Now look at me all bright eyed and pros art. I think pros art means hansum man or summut like that. My Khmer is fucking tops by da way innit bruv...

The British police are well known 4 doing their ganja busts at 5am, not 5pm. I think the 5am hour may provide better pictures for our viewing pleasure, just a thought.
Also if ur tinking of opening up a public bedroom and inviting soap dodgers in to toke, it is probbo best to open at midnight, shut at 5am and then get ur grubby stoners ass off bed innit.
Not that I'm encouraging anything of the sort.

As a foreigner you can't open a bar and start selling ganja just like this. The place is already taken by Khmers who have the monopoly in a well khnown bar right at the center of the city. Especially if the cops to not get no benefit from these Barangs that are already full of money. For any crime commited in Cambodia a Barang will always qattract more attention from the police and Courts and more likely be jailed than a Khmer for whom there will be much more understanding. In the provinces away from P.P.,there is a lot of abuses ,extreme abuses towards foreigners caught commiting even small crimes

Does anyone in Kampot know what prompted this little outburst?
I'm not sure if it's related, but he mentions on FB that he was robbed at gunpoint on the riverside (presumably in Kampot) earlier this week while he was with a female friend. He fought back and got clocked on the nose.

I noticed that and wondered if it was Kampot or Phnom Penh. So is this Kampot now - armed robbery and beatings of foreigners on the riverfront?scobienz wrote:I'm not sure if it's related, but he mentions on FB that he was robbed at gunpoint on the riverside (presumably in Kampot) earlier this week while he was with a female friend.
