Reporters shouldn't rely on Facebook feeds for their stories. Facebook almost never shows me all of the comments to a post or thread.
If you're in a small-town Facebook group - show at least a single item of information on your Facebook feed related to that group - GeeJay shows a single photo of a Swiss meadow and not a thing else. Perhaps that's why the admin has invited you for a coffee, you show no clue of who you are, yet want to talk controversy - just go so he can see that you're not a 440 troll?
I'd take him up on the offer.

you certainly have an active imagination...
that image is from a hillside above the toek chhouu river...
Perhaps that's why the admin has invited you for a coffee,
methinks the invitation wasn't for coffee...
it was to be informed of his interpretation of what is <or isn't> allowed to be "discussed" on "his" page...
you show no clue of who you are,
how perceptive = indeed, exactly the way we like to appear on FB...
yet want to talk controversy
well actually, if truth be told, we were only interested in the concept of censorship...
and what the admin<s> on the "friendly" kampot noticeboard" offered as an interpretation/policy of said defacto/demonstrated censorship...
instead of just swallowing the usual subjective/arbitrary censorship on "forbidden" topics...
- just go so he can see that you're not a 440 troll?
with 34 posts over 4 years = yeah right...!
again, you seem to have an active imagination...
I'd take him up on the offer.
the only thing i want/need from angus, at this point, is an apology...

Go see the guy.
I don't see what you have to worry about. He might even apologise, I don't know.
If you're not prepared to walk into a family-run coffee shop and say hello to a supposed neighbour of - what - you say 4 years? - then it's a sad day indeed for you.
Where's the rest, btw?
The comments about living here, the family, the friends, the successes, the flops, the photos of the kids, wife, boyfriend, your sister's cat photos, your cousin's kid shots at Xmas, Uncle Red's motorcycle and Grandad's varicose veins... whatever, the car in front of Phnom Chhngok, the shonky, locally sprayed moto at Tuk Chou, the chicken soup at your favourite restaurant, the general life of a Facebook account - you know?
Why the radio silence?
You don't even show a friend's list.
No friends and no family life offline to show on Facebook?
That's almost like... gavinmac?

Wtf are you talking about? I've been to Kampot many times. Tell me your name; we've possibly met. I'm Jack Laurenson. Hi. No hiding here.Chuangt2u wrote:1. This is not what you do. You attack for no obvious reason other than your own whim.
2. slavedog just invited that - he asked me directly - I commented.
My contribution to this thread is to suggest that those who want to play devil's advocate and turn someone's facebook group into a trainwreck of a battleground had better go to Kampot and see they guy they're attacking for not letting them do that.
Why don't Jack and gavinmac start their own Facebook group under their own names and their own moderation - with their real names up there for all to see?
Let's call it "Cambodia in the News" - a place to discuss those stories gavinmac just doesn't believe. Let the authorities appear on their doorsteps because they want to criticise local authorities under their own names.
Oh, wait - Jack has the balls to do that.... proven alrready. He just needs to go to Kampot.
What about gavinmac?
From my counting about 7-8 separate people had their articles, comments and conversation contributions deleted from the Kampot Noticeboard (so you can't just lay this all on GeeJay) and at least four people have been banned, seemingly to censor any discussion of a highly newsworthy drug bust and subsequent events. That's fine, it's your noticeboard (Or it belongs to Angus, at least, and he seemingly gets to decide what can and can't be talked about) so do what you want - but people have a right to call you out on it. Silencing them further is just plain dumb, because, guess what, everyone noticed.Chuangt2u wrote:Enough from me - my position's clear.

Oh and by the way, I spoke at length with one of the guys who was arrested, and he was far more candid and honest than all the cliquey Kampot cultists who rallied around him simply because he was "one of us."
This, I like.I'm Jack Laurenson. Hi. No hiding here.
You've very recently been there - excellent - so what's your story?
1. Folks runs a small Facebook group as they want to...
2. There's a clique in Kampot who are hiding The Ark of the Covenant behind powerful Facebook censorship...
3. I went down there, spoke to all of those concerned, and here it is...
4. A tiny few usernames (perhaps even fewer actual real people) on Khmer440 are attacking yet another fkr over some perceived whatever simply because they can.

Oddly, the Chiang Rai Times just reported on Demyanov's arrest today. Maybe it's a weekly paper:

I don't think the Chiang Rai Times has any reporters in Cambodia.
It appears that their article is copied from the articles in the Cambodia Daily and the Khmer Times about this arrest.
Consider the following:

Cambodia Daily wrote:Mr. Demyanov opened Fat Cat bar in mid-2014, according to his Facebook page, which lists his given name simply as Yan.
In July 2010, a Yan Demyanov, then 31, was arrested in Brookline, Massachusetts, along with two friends in possession of heroin. Mr. Demyanov was subsequently charged with conspiracy to violate the controlled substance act and being present where heroin is kept, according to the news website Wickedlocal.com.

Who gives a fuck about a smackhead hipster.
I thought drug busts reported in the media were above board. This case was months long investigation. Well reported though mainstream media.
I thought tea money paid busts don't reach the mainstream media.
I smell a rat, I will contact PPost for a follow up and report what has been stated online . See if they follow it up.
Surely a barang cant operate a business after being charged with drug dealing. Any thoughts?

I thought weed was a food ingredient in Cambodia?
It better be smart, not clever. Funny, not insulting.

Yes, It's ok to use in food and hippi happiness pizza, where do they buy it?
But the barang chap was clearly selling it for smoking customers..or not. hmm. a grey area indeed.

Cops find major dope, cops release major dope. Cambodia should really have stricter dope laws, curtail their numbers so their reckless and abusive ways don't spoil things for the rest of us.
