If anyone has a LARGE Emoji for TONGUE in "Cheek" would they please INSERT it HERE.
I was proposing a 440 VIRTUAL online Mardi Gras.
Something in line with much of the other off beat and at times dubious humour to be experienced here.
Glad to see that some got in to the spirit of things. Well done lads.

I'll keep an eye on the forum for any info relating to the parade, but in the meantime if you hear anything, I would appreciate it if you could fill me in.
Thanks,
Mitch.

Even Elton John knows the difference between a joke and homophobia.

It is precisely because of my UNTAC experience that I am tuned in to this issue.
For those not aware of such matters, I became very much aware of Lesbianism and Bi-sexual behaviour between Khmers very early in my time with UNTAC in 1992. And although not relevant to this thread, I had a member of my UNTAC staff who was very much confused as to his/her gender to the great amusement of my female staff, Khmer and International alike.
The subject of LBGT is anything but a new issue in contemporary Cambodia and for those that mix freely with Cambodians in wider society comes as no surprise at all. I do, however, agree that it is much easier for a person to come out in Phnom Penh than in rural Cambodia.
Again, for those tuned in to wider contemporary Khmer society there is also nothing new with Cambodian Gay Pride as such events have been held for quite a few years now and very openly so in more recent years. This is how things should be in contemporary society. In past years separate activities for the Cambodian LBGT community have been held in Siem Reap too. Not sure what is happening in SR for 2016 though.
Even the present government has moved to give spoken recognition at least to the LBGT members of society in recent times.
The taboos of older Cambodians are rapidly being cast aside by the present generation and out themselves and lead their own lives in the larger metropolitan centres. No different to most other parts of the world really.
There's nothing new under the sun in Indochina either.

Hey Mitch Mr. Fruitcake asked me to ask you if you actually had that particular outfit that you posted as his gimp uniform got damaged from "excessive use"

I traveled through Cambodia in 2010 with an Argentinian buddy I met in Vietnam and we were amazed at how many Khmer guys were VERY effeminate. Or something.
I mean look how any ladyboys in Thailand and they have 3 different bathrooms in some of the public schools for Gods sake.
Surely this isn't a "western" moral imposition. In fact it's like anything goes there.

DJ'd at last yaers pride pool Party at Rambutan. Awesome party vibe and was a great day with many Irish friends celebrating the the Irish referendum to legalize same-sex marriage. The first country to do so by public vote. 10 years a go I never would have thought Ireland would be more progressive than Australia on this issue.

After living in Toronto for 30+ years I had never been to a gay pride parade and festivities etc. which is HUGE here. Then my wife and I stumbled onto and into it one year. I hadn't realized HOW huge it was. And quite cheerful too. Lots of partying and laughter. Probably a million people.
Have to say I wan't a fan of some of the totally naked guys but what the hell, I'm a big boy. I survived the trauma.
Lot's of humourous self ???? what's the word? Self deprecation.
I haven't been to another but can't say it was so horrible that the ex-mayor Rob Ford wouldn't let them fly the flag at city hall and wouldn't attend any of it. Sorry to Jacked Camry (His avatar is Rob Ford)
Our new Prime minister Justin Trudeau ( son of deceased ex-prime minister Pierre Trudeau) is going to march in this years parade.
Note: Still haven't worked up the desire or courage to attend a Caribana. (Huge million plus parade involving....YIKES: Blacks)
Hey we all have our prejudices. And somebody always gets stabbed shot or beaten.
