Animal in the House.
Animal in the House.
I've recently moved into a house surrounded on three sides by rice fields. This month I've had a snake on the porch, 1 meter monitor lizard in the kitchen, two bats on a fly through and the dog presented us with the neighbors cat. (dead)
Do you get many animals in the house?
Do you keep many animals?
The water monitor was a beautiful looking creature and seemingly well fed such was its girth.

2 cats, no dog unfortunately. If anyone has a nice looking puppy, let me know.

Pet mice, hamsters, budgies, dog, cat, and turtles. As a matter of fact, the turtles have turned into monsters of sorts, going from silver dollar size a few years ago to something close to the size of a medium frying pan. Any turtle rescue centers or something like that where they might be deposited?

here you take a left.
head on down there away from the river for a kilometer or more and you'll see a huge expanse of wetland on your right hand side
leave teurtles there
they'll be cool
they'll like it
they'll thank you

Stepped on this bitch last year.
Countryside home gets them and nasty millipedes frequently. Find snakeskin here and there around the house too. Vipers and cobra occasionally spotted in the area. Tree frogs like my bathroom and hide out in the top loader until it gets turned on.
Phnom Penh home gets mosquitos and rats.

@jackal I once had that crawl out of my backpack in an appartment in Phnom Penh. I did not expect that so at first glance I thought the fast moving creature was a gecko. Once my brain processed what it was I squashed it.
It came in with new wooden furniture. Nice to sleep in your new bedroom and wondering if there might be more crawling around

Given to the kids by a neighbor. Without much thought, tossed them into the rooftop flower thing which always has water in it. The kids took better care than expected and now I have have a couple of monsters that the Khmers always say say the same thing when they see, "soup."LexusSchmexus wrote:What were you thinking LTO? We got two as kids as well (well, my sister did). Tiny at first, but they'll just grow to whatever size aquarium you have. My sister lost interest rather quickly. Fast forward 20-25 years or so and my dad still has to take care of them, clean out the tank and all that. I'm sure that's one purchase he regrets... Come to think of it, I believe they're actually illegal now. They still sell the food for anyone "grandfathered" in, but they're one of those pets that people buy without thinking twice, but realize they don't want the responsibility of taking care of them for like 80 years. Too many turtles were being flushed down toilets, so they can't be sold anymore. Either that or they cause trouble when released in lakes. Probably best to be "set free" in the river once your kids are old enough. Unless they keep them, of course.
I sometimes get Mice and there's been alot of Cockroaches recently. Also loads of Ants, Mozzies and Gocko's. My girlfriend can be bit of a Fox, she calls me a Dog and there's a Snake in my pants. Thats about it.. Oh and her kids always getting Lice.

And do it this week. Next week it will be filled in with sand.
Next year it will be a new city.

My dogs eat them, they bite the stingers off first and then it turns into a crunchy treat.Jackal wrote:

Geckos by the score, lizards mosey in around morning tea, a huge scorpion, centipedes, snakes, daddy long legs, frogs, rats and the odd dragon fly. I get cows mooching around the back door but so far haven't taken up inside space. I mean, I should just move out, not enough room anymore.
