where did i blame those running for the better life? where did I say who had created the situation? perhaps I misread your comment.springrain wrote:Damn tootin' right something ain't adding up. All this has been planned for ages. It started way back ...LTO wrote: Something is not adding up.
The carving up of Africa was designed and drawn to cause maximum profit for the colonists & maximum suffering to the people of the earth - as was seen in the decimation of the 'Original' inhabitants of the Americas & 'Australasia' as it used to be known.
The sick colonists have continued to rape & abuse indigenous peoples everywhere. Now, we have the absurd situation where people who have been disaffected are screaming, nay, pleading for 'justice'. They will be 'meted out' the 'justice' they crave. These popups of 'purpose' will have a small hearing in 'world courts'. That will be deemed to be 'Justice' And so we go on ...
In simple terms, the EU, World Bank & IMF have failed. Failed to 'protect' those who deserve protection & expanded their sick Order of slavery. Yes, slavery still thrives. It has not only been encouraged, but enforced.
The most recent exposition of social slavery and hysterical warmongering lies not in Winston Churchill, though he started it, ...but in manipulated World Opinion.
The sort of stuff we see day by day.
So I disagree with vi & LTO. We have created the awful situation; it is our fault (collectively).
How awful to turn the blame on those running for a better life.

Perhaps I am wrong, too, vi. Sorry if I am wrong. It was an emotional response of mine, so might have been misplaced.

Is that true, that most are unskilled people? I honestly don't know so would like to see the figures.

I just work on the logic that there is a skills shortage in Australia and they readily grant visas to those with skills, especially those on the list of skills shortages. If they had skills that are in demand I am sure they would get a visa.
There is a reason why most of the NZ'ers are in Australia on a special category visa and not a permanent resident visa (which qualifies them for citizenship and other benefits), many of them probably would not qualify for a residence visa based on skills. Kiwis are just lucky in that respect and the economic refugees are not; life is not fair.

Same for me. I don't understand. In fact I think my comments imply at least some of them (or maybe even most or all of them) are "running for a better life," such as those who came to Cambodia and then decided life was better back wherever they had left and went back home. And I certainly haven't "blamed" anybody. But that doesn't necessarily make them refugees or even asylum seekers.violet wrote:where did i blame those running for the better life? where did I say who had created the situation? perhaps I misread your comment.

This pathway will allow SCV holders who have been living in Australia for the past five years, and have earned income at or above the Temporary Skilled Migration Income Threshold (TSMIT) as evidenced by their Australian Taxation Office Notice of Assessment throughout their qualifying residence period, to apply for permanent residency and thereafter citizenship.

Thanks for that.
That is good news. I never liked the 2001 changes.
Good to see that a part time job/income is all that is required in terms of income.

Australia is a pretty good country, built with the hands of criminals.
If they learned their lesson they would let as many terrorists in as possible.
The place would be thriving.
I know a couple of people who went there on a work holiday visa and didn't leave. I don't think they care about ' western' immigrants.
Can't wait to go back there, amazing things to do.

i was whooping in ecstasy at the change and it's exactly the type of thing I'd been saying they should do. Acknowledge those of us who are contributing! ... I promise not to tell them you have broken the rules if you are nicer to me.LaudJohn wrote:violet wrote:http://www.border.gov.au/Visasupport/Pa ... thway.aspx

First they say the can't let in terrrorists because they may commit mass murder, then they say their country is already over-populated.finy wrote:Australia is a pretty good country, built with the hands of criminals.

It's important in this argument to distinguish "boat People" asylum seekers or queue jumpers as they're often called, from so called bonefide asylum seekers. This is the whole crux of the matter. Many boat people actually destroy their documents before or on apprehension. Why would they do that? Maybe they just don't want their murky pasts to be unearthed.
