Dog meat has long been considered ...The Poor man's Viagra...
In the same way that oysters are considered the rich man's aphrodisiac.

The less dogs the better. Why is a dog more cuddly than a lamb? First world bollocks.

Ken is right. While stealing pets is a disgrace the ethnocentric cultural shockhorror associated with eating dogs is a bit hypocritical. Pigs are more intelligent than dogs and yet we don't consider eating them cruel.

Domestic dogs (can) have a social relationship with humans that pigs do not. We have evolved together in a common community working as partners. And this guy is not just killing and eating dog, he is stealing, torturing and killing people's pets, animals that have an established relationship and emotional bond with their human keepers, likely in many cases some person's friend. Even if eating dog can be justified on some level by cultural relativism, this thief is still slime. They lynch guys like him in Vietnam.

Well said, LTO. We can see this in the way some humans are reared, too. Starved of love, some humans become cruel & heartless - in some cases, such an upbringing is deliberate. On the other hand, even pigs are capable of developing a bond with humans if allowed to. In fact, most farm-based animals will respond to a loving domesticity; it is only natural.LTO wrote:Domestic dogs (can) have a social relationship with humans that pigs do not. Are they capable of that bond with humans?
PS, i just had a nice mental image of a rope tied to the back of a car, thrown around the neck of a tuktuk driver and then pedal to the metal !!.....bump....bump.

That picture makes me feel fucking ill.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
One ugly mofo. Looks like shit. Literally the face resembles a pile of feces.

I've heard a few snake owners claim that their snakes like to cuddle up with them but I'm not sure if it's affection or just a source of warmth when it's cold.spitthedog wrote:And what about cold blooded creatures Springrain?springrain wrote:Well said, LTO. Pigs are intelligent but they don't share the same history that humans have with dogs. Humans were, back in the day, persistence hunters, we wouldn't outrun our prey but we'd follow it, for days at a time until it would die either from exhaustion or injury. Dogs were one of the few animals capable of keeping up with us and their pack mentality coupled with their stamina made them a perfect partner for ancient hunters. Modern dogs might be pampered little shit factories but their ancestors earned their place alongside humans.

Really a very good article which confirms all that I have learnt already. The owner of my land regularly goes out to catch the local village dogs at night when everyone's sleeping. Seeing as he owns just about everything no one can complain. He owns a lot of land, several properties and holiday businesses, drives a large Lexus and has boats. He catches them exactly as has been described in the article.scobienz wrote:Very interesting article here by Alex Kronholm on his encounter with tuk tuk drivers who steal pets to sell to dog restaurants in Phnom Penh.

There are many, many dog thieves in Cambodia, and not all of them are "poor" tuk tuk drivers.
The men's use of the money is also another point of confirmation of what I believe to be true in general.

As the old saying goes. 75% of all Khmer dogs are inbred. Like in a sandwich.
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.
