Should the old geezers in the KOW be taking asprin in this heat and avoid the Ziagra (aka heart medicine) ?

''Although beneficial, body temperatures greater than 41 degrees C (106 degree F) can be harmful. Aspirin lowers body temperature by affecting the hypothalamus, resulting in dilation of skin blood vessels and sweating''
http://www.mhhe.com/biosci/ap/vander/st ... ding1.html

''Damage to the brain generally does not occur until temperatures reach 42 °C (107.6 °F), and it is rare for an untreated fever to exceed 40.6 °C (105 °F)"

''Our cells start to die around 41°C (106°F) to 45°C (113°F) but we can survive much higher air temperatures: a healthy person could make a day trip to Death Valley on one of its hottest days-- 55°C (131°F)-- and, so long as he avoided dehydration, would probably not die''

Today already feels much fresher up here in SR. According to Beeb weather, it'll only be 37C at 1pm, 39C at 4, dropping nicely to 33C at 7pm. Better wind speeds & relative humidity this afternoon, too! Worth celebrating with more beer, I reckon. http://www.bbc.com/weather/1822214

^^ BBC weather always puts temps a few degrees cooler/less hot. Not higher than 38C in PP.

I mean, it's super hot either way, 'feeling much fresher' when it's only 37 might be partly to do with which weather forecast being looked at. (Edited for clarity: That'd be the breeze taking the edge off the feel of it)

Seems cooler than this on my balcony, but I do have a nice breeze blowing from the East across it.

Sometimes, Khmers do stuff that reminds me why I like the place so much:

SUV = Swimming Under Vater, ja? It's a bakuzzi!

Some Khmer guy posted it on Facebook. Why do you say it is in Thailand? The banner writing is in Thai, but many are, especially in Koh Kong, Sinville and Battambang. Something they wrote in Khmer? The one guy looks like he might be wearing a Chang T-shirt, but that means nothing, lots of people wear Budweiser or whatever, and they've never been there. Doubt a Khmer news service would cover some Thai guys lolling in a truck.

Shame. It's a good ruse.

If you were to make a list of all the fucked up, retarded, inept, stupid shit you shouldn't do on the roads, that would actually turn out to be the Cambodian handbook on how to drive.

Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.

It may have been smoldering hot but it was falling hail in Battambang:

It was hailing in Mourng Russey district last Sunday past 5pm and some village houses' roofs were damaged.

I'm sure they wouldn't take any, horace.

As an English teacher, you should know, Khmer students are WAY ahead of Thais with linguistic skills, no reason why they cannot compete and even beat them in other areas.

Fascinating thread on K440 and its direction seems to have disappeared. Did it all get a little close to the bone?
