Hail and wind storm in Mondulkiri as well yesterday at around 2pm, which caused a house to collapse, injuring 3 girls.

Bloody hot in the village I've just spent the last week...thankfully we had plenty of ice for the beer and had the river just across the road to cool down in (probably got giardia, among other nasty bugs, now though, haha!).

I thought Brits used Celsius...what is 110?

I was in the same boat as you by the sounds of it, no fans, but we did get a decent breeze in the evenings which helped a little. The village we were in actually ran out of ice on the 12th and 13th, so we had to send someone off who had a car with a massive chilly bin to the nearest town to stock up

Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.

yeah we also had a breeze in the evenings which was nice, but didnt help much once you started dancing, i think the most commonly used word over the past 4 days were "G'daw!!!" i think the only word that came close to that was "Dtuk kok Dtiat" then maybe "Ah Bey Cey" :pissed: haha

Refused to go to Kampon bloody Cham for NY. Too bloody hot, too many mossys, too many flies, too many ants, no A/C, no bed, no fridge, no microwave, no inside bog, boring and I get woken up at 4am by someone smashing a beetle nut to get their fix.

What is this, early 90" s Thailand!

Has anyone else noticed that it has been a dry heat and not really as humid as usual.

It has felt very dry and hot like a hairdryer blowing in your face when you're driving. The weather reports put the humidity below 50%, which isn't particularly high. However it's fucking sweaty once you step out of the shade or away from A/C or a fan/breeze.

Was in PP and not that humid compared to SHV.

Is that to do with the sea?

Edited. OK I know now. It's to do with the warm sea creating too much water content in the air, or dewpoint - much like the outside of a cold glass of beer - the air has reached its dewpoint so can't hold the water in the air anymore. Or something.

So we sweat to get cool but there's already too much water in the air for it to be effective in cooling our bodies. Hence "humid and muggy".

Sounds like you're about as interested in staying in the boonie villages as I am. I've done in plenty of times, and it always sucks. Luckily most of the family is from Phnom Penh, but one is from a remote village only about 40 kms away and that place is crap and I've never stayed there. During the day it's pleasant enough in the countryside to see all the foliage and chill, but sleeping in a stilt house with mosquito nets and no power is terrible. Then you have various ducks/pigs wandering around below and invariably the roosters that start calling to each other at about 4 AM, around the time I'm likely to be hoping to finally fall asleep. Then you have to go out with a flashlight down some steps across some mud to the bathroom or just try to piss out the windows that don't have any glass in them.

Yeah sounds about the same but they have electricity and are located near a main road.

I made the mistake of going for a poo at 4am and 10 mins later a horde of family members turned up at the outside loo telling me its dangerous because "Bad man wait and kill you", on the off chance anyone Fancys a crap at 4am in the middle of knowhere! :o

The family have a piss pot to use. Like I'm going to do that in front of kids. They'd think a horse had got into the house. (The pissing noise not the girth)
I know now that that family cat is for wiping ones arse.

Yes, but i have never noticed a dry heat in Cambodia before . The countryside is parched, the rivers are at record lows, so no water in the air to create humidity , global warming as you feel it.
