That's what my jobs here have been about. I spend half my time correcting my students pronunciation, cadence and article usage etc, and half teaching them what they are paying me for; to increase their English ability. Why? Because they have both had native Khmer teachers that are not up to standard AND they have gone to schools like ELT and Western where the teachers are employed on the students ratings of those teachers, therefore the good ones that make them work quickly depart.gavinmac wrote:

A student I know who has been to Western his whole school life, was trying to get into an international school at Grade 9. Never had a chance. His little brother aged 7 is already at the international school. See what the Khmers are doing to themselves? And for what?
