I believe Calmette did that with keeping_riel also. I'm guessing that few head injury patients who are unconscious at Calmette ever wake up.penhster wrote:This hospital might have put him in an induced coma to help with the swelling.

Would you be confident in their competence at Calmette in an instance like this ??

Hi Harold. Nice to meet you. Yeah, it was the last night of the festival. Songkram is hell of a lot puerile fun for a few hours on the first morning, but after that it gets a bit freaking tedious. I had my passing-through-immigration clothes on, which where the only dry clothes i had left and was on my way to meet somebody. I had been careful to avoid the other splashers. but these guys ambushed me with their iced water. I'm pretty sure now this splasher is not the same in the OP.Harold wrote:If insulting a nation is grounds to start a fight then there'd be a lot of bruised Khmer440 members.Jamie_Lambo wrote:what a clown lolHanno wrote:I concuralanclarke72 wrote:It sounds to me that the common denominator in both those anecdotes was you being a bit of a dick. Sorry. Nothing personal.
there is a line between banter and insult
in Britain you can call someone a cunt or you can call someone a cunt,
he was obviously being a cunt
got upset at someone because they threw water at someone(him) during Songkran, so made a nasty insult about his weight
then on another occasion when drunk goes out his way to insult Ireland, then hides upstairs when the Irish guy got angry
Europeans and Canadians love to tell Americans about how awful and primitive the United States is. That isn't really an excuse for Americans to retaliate with violence. Also, why wouldn't someone get pissed off if water is thrown on them when they've already told the thrower to not throw water on them?
I was once briefly 40 kilos heavier than I am now. It was so fucking horrible in that prison of flesh. The strange thing is that people would say I looked really good compared to my usual skinniness. It is even stranger that some males deliberately put on weight (bulk up) to foster the tough guy illusion.
As for the diminutive Irish dude. A stated dislike of a particular sub-set of feel good Irish movies from around 1990 and featuring the same revolving cast of actors is not a attack on Ireland. Before I mentioned that, the Irishman was was having a rave about the cultural appropriation of Ireland after I asked his surname to see if we could have been related distantly, so yeah, i may been pushing his buttons.
I can see where Jamie is coming from with his uncharacteristic anger- I had the same problem as a kid. It distresses me to see you and others like Edinwigan getting continually bullied here by the sheepies, who can only see people in terms of top bloke or total cunt/dickhead. No grey area and nothing but a crowd approved opinion. That said. there are some great posters like LTO, gibbon arms, boomer, epidemiks, etc, etc, and .......Jamie on a good day.
Harold, you, me and Edinwigan should start our own forum as an alternative to K440 and the even worse CEO.

I'm picturing a closet full of singlets and one $3 knockoff polo shirt saved for immigration crossings and the occasional audience with the Pope.

I always wear my Buzz Lightyear suit going through immigration. I'd be enraged if it got wet.

I've tried in my mankini once, at EU immigration, but they didn't let me in, but maybe here it's different...Khmerhamster wrote:I always wear my Buzz Lightyear suit going through immigration. I'd be enraged if it got wet.

i can understand your frustration regards to getting wet at songkran, but if traveling during the holiday its best to make special arrangements, for example if you dont want to get wet, order a taxi instead of tuk tuk/moto/walking

I wouldn't call them immigration clothes but I try to dress comfortably yet smartly when on a long haul journey.
Back in the days before mass travel, everyone was making such an effort, hence helping making travel a better experience for fellow travelers as well as for oneself.
In our modern world when I see western white trash (whatever their skin color is) wearing dirty rags, singlets etc in asian airports, I can't help but to feel disgust, almost wishing that tourism was same as before, reserved for a certain elite.

That last word, "elite" , spoils your post completely... All the rest i agree with for the biggest part, but i think elite is a very unwisely word of choice... #justsaying

Well I used elite for it's meaning as a little number opposed to huge numbers of mass tourism.
No political or even wealth meaning intended.

Thanks for clarification in that case!

I recently talked to General Mackevili, who says he was there for this conversation and that the victim and his hospital-visiting friend are both American.Jamie_Lambo wrote:he did tell me, but i have forgotten, this guy who told me a lot of info about the victim either went to the hospital with him, or shortly after, he actually acted as liaison and was the one who contacted his family to let them know what happened and the situation, he said the victims mother "was so cold, and showed no signs of emotion" not sure what that says about the victim, or his family...gavinmac wrote: Jamie - do you know the name/nationality of the victim?
