Yeah, you changed the whole premise of the thread. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out.Jep wrote:.scobienz wrote:LTO wrote:What happened to the thread title? 'Why Do Some Expats Hate Other Expats' wasn't perfect, but I think it captured the attitude a lot better than 'Why Do Some Expats Disregard Other Expats'. 'Hate' may have been slightly too strong a word, but 'Disregard' is just wrong. Clearly, the people who talk about the lowlives of Shitsville or Pig Penh are not disregarding (ignoring) them. If anything they doth protest too much.
And I see the wording of the OP has changed for the worse too. It went from fun and provocative to academic and dull. Bring back the original.
Jep has a habit of editing or deleting his threads hours after he originally posts them. It looks like he did it again. Every third bloody entry in the mod logs is a record of Jeb deleting his own stuff. If he left them alone, he would have more posts than vladimir.
What is your point? .this thread is running nicely. Did I delete a post that changed anyting? Tell me.

Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Apart from that, nothing.

This thread gives me a very strong déjà vu feeling... Oh yes I said many times and years ago already that jealousy must be the main factor.
However it is pleasant to observe that some of the longtermers are finally opening their eyes and stating the obvious as to where between PP and SHV it is more desirable to reside

I don't think a single sane (all 5 of them) PP resident contests that Sinville is a better place to live, based on scenery. It's when one includes the people that they get nasty.
ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
Sinville is indeed beautiful, I only went once and stayed around 6 hours. Because of the residents.

If you're really serious about that you'd better prepare your shores and pick your piece of land and buy it now. I happen to have a house in 'the province' and have adapted to living & working there, but prices of land are on the rise, and not just a little bit. Plots of land in remote areas once costing 2000 USD (let's say 3 years ago) now cost double or more. Plots of land inside the provincial centers already have crazy prices. A piece of land in central Ban Lung about 600 m from the market (where? Yes, there, on the edge of civilization) measuring 20 x 55 x 24 meters sold for well over 150k USD about 14 days ago, and it had been for sale for only two weeks if I remember well. Of course it's just a piece of land without any amenities like water, electricity, a well etc.... Be quick, if you really, really want it!Felgerkarb wrote:Same here, easier to talk to the Gods in mountains and forests. If it were possible, i.e. reliable power and internet, Morticia and I would pull up stakes and move outta the city. That is our plan...land in the province and wait for the infrastructure to catch up, then build the Villa Felgerkarbia there.LexusSchmexus wrote:Sand between my toes and in all my clothes? Sunburns? I honestly can't think of anything I hate more to be honest. Lot's of provincial towns I'd live in if it were possible, but Sihanoukville definitely isn't one of them. Never been much a coastal guy, I prefer woods and mountains.

Is the land 24 metres tall - or 24 metres deep?

It's in Kampong Thom, 40m along the road and over 100m deep. Options to add additional land around it. It's in the village pretty much exclusively owned by Morticia's family. About 30 minutes East (?) from downtown. The roads are currently all being paved in the area, so it's going to explode in value over the next few years. 12k USD.

Many pieces of land in Cambodia aren't rectangular for all sorts of reasons. The front (roadside) of this specific plot measures 20 meters, it's 55 m deep (or so they say), and at the back it measures 24 M. The asking price was 190k by the way, or 157 USD per M2.Khmerhamster wrote:I don't understand.Kachang wrote: A piece of land in central Ban Lung about 600 m from the market (where? You might want to start planting some trees now, you'll profit from that later.Felgerkarb wrote:It's in Kampong Thom, 40m along the road and over 100m deep. Options to add additional land around it. It's a fact that you post often and then come back hours later to edit or delete your posts.
usually within a few minutes of posting.. Just for Vlad, mind.
