Tend to agree. I often carry a pack, always wearing it with both straps. I think this helps deter would be snatch&grab types who seem to prefer to go after one strap over the shoulder, especially if it is carried on the street side shoulder. That said, I've heard of a few people dragged by their backpack by robbers, and my wife also seems to feel that wearing any bag/pack, even double strap, is a bad idea. But so far it has worked for me. But I also take other precautions like walking against traffic so I can see what is coming, walking away from the street's edge, never holding a phone or device out in front of me near the street, being hyper-aware of my surroundings, etc.banlung wrote:i think the crucial thing is where a backpack and double strap, even if u look like a douche.

Wear the backpack like a baby-carry, safest, especially on a bike.

I previously had a terrible habit of walking with my phone in my hand. I don't know why - it just felt uncomfortable in my pocket. I always made sure it's in my hand away from the flow of traffic and I was always conscious that I gripped tightly. Twice in a few months some little twat on a bike came from behind to try to grab it; both times my tight grip left him empty handed. Both times he looked around at me, almost annoyed that I hadn't upheld my side of the deal by letting him steal it.
I know walk with it in my pocket at all times.
