About 10% of US households. Just talking out my ass but I would expect a lot of those are seniors who have no mortgage or rent to pay and are on Medicare, or young people living with parents. It's not much money even in rural areas if you have to pay for heat in winter AND rent or a mortgage. It's not really difficult to live on $300/month in PP. It's possible to even maintain a healthy lifestyle on $300/month.
