Dying in SHV is a badge of honour
I like SHV however I will admit it took 6-8 years before I realized the benefits of the place.
The cost of accommodation is 40% or less of what PP is now charging, the food is good and temperature is 3-5 degrees less than PP with a cooling sea breeze thrown in.
OK, The mortality rate for expats in SHV is a bit high and the employment opportunity for white folk not all that good.
It's not a bad place to spend your twilight years, all your social requirements are available
Be they Women, Solitude or a few drinking companions.
Overall, it's not a bad place to spend your final years at.

I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

The one thing that attracts me to SHV is the ocean. I spent part of 2014 and 2015 there. Great apartment, great Brit for a landlord, and a 25 minute walk to the Sohka beach ( locals end ). Samudera's market within walking range and my favorite motodop fellow for the ride home with a box of goodies and case of tonic water. Yes... good place for the twilight years.

I am not so sure. When you are in the "twilight years" doesn't that imply you would want access to passable medical facilities? Unless you are ready to die and have reached the "deathpat years" when you are not concerned with treating your medical needs.

Speaking of SHV, what are the best places to eat now?
Is Charlie Harper still good? Who owns it? I always went in, Tony was a nice guy and food was good. If it is his family maybe I will just go support it anyway.
I will be going for a few days coming up, with the family.

Monkey Mark's $12 steak is great value. Australian grass fed rib filet. Mine was possibly 600 grams.
Samurai sushi is good.
CH died with Tony

Of course it is.
I saw Charlie Harpers was still going and messaged the owner about the comment it died, just waiting for the reaction
