Not very, at least here in Temple Town. English and more and more Chinese.

Bit of a joke that Cambodia is part of the "La Francophonie" but then so is Vietnam were almost nobody speaks Frog anymore.
At the school where I work, in Temple Town, the 'Second Language' option includes French & Mandarin, with about a 50-50 split between students wishing to study those options.

Dame Rumour has it that Alliance Francaise will be starting up operations here in March, 2017. In fact, it is hardly rumour; AF will be starting up in SR in a few months.

in sihanoukville the vast majority of the expat population are french, there's a lot of russians but theyre not as social and stick to themselves

I always found that that is what the French do, too. Go to the same pub and same restaurant, which makes them easy to avoid;-)

OP must have met a french tourist from Phnom Penh since I am supposed to be the only french speaking fluent khmer on Victory Hill 8-) :lol:

The best thing about the French is that they keep standards up, with the occasional "socially-accepted" wino. Food and hospitality IQ goes up noticeably when they are around. Also, not a part of the herd like in other countries.
