Who is or was the most famous.....
I was just watching Jamie's latest instalment of 'The Life and Times of NJH' and the man himself (NJ) professed himself as the MOST famous person in PP. Really?
So it begs the question:
'Who is the most famous person in Phnom Penh:
Currently...
and of All Time (Open Category)
Currently...
and of All Time (Import Category) Non-Asian
Could be interesting

Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.

What does famous mean?
And well-known in the expat, Cambodian or both communities?
NJH's claim is ludicrous, really. He's known in a niche audience, alright, but mostly for the wrong reasons. Cambodians don't know, give a fuck about him. And most of his following is not Cambodia-based.
Names of foreign residents that a number of Cambodians and expats would know would be the US ambassadors. Joseph Mussomeli in my opinion was a favorite of a lot of Cambodians.
Or activists like Alex Gonzales Davidson and journalists like Kevin Doyle. Nate Thayer might be considered famous too.

For foreigners, maybe Yann Defond.
He's a runner, well known in sporting circles, also is pretty fluent in Khmer and has appeared in loads of music videos and stupid CTN comedy stage shows.
Probably better known to Khmer than foreigners.
Alternatively, as joon says, Alex is well known and yer man who's name I've forgotten from the Cambodia children's fund NGO. Loads of Khmer folk know them.

So well-known that unscrupulous Cambodian companies use his name to promote their products, haha.

In recent years wouldn't it be Maddox Jolie-Pitt?
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.
Jamie aka Wild Turkey Man was pretty famous when he was around........ they even had his picture up at Lucky Supermarket!
