Although Tolkien was a complete nutter and terrified of technology. Once he only agreed to use a tape recorder for an interview/reading from his works, after reciting the Lord’s Prayer in Gothic (Old German) to exorcise any evil at work in it.Playboy wrote:Dreamers and Adventurers, not diplomatsviolet wrote:The people who dream up DrWho, Red Dwarf and The HobbitPlayboy wrote:- "Yeah, a bunch of pussies and touchy-feely liberals" (2016)

And for those who (rightly) point out I can be all over the place sometimes in my political discourse:
"When INTPs are particularly excited, the conversation can border on incoherence as they try to explain the daisy-chain of logical conclusions that led to the formation of their latest idea. Oftentimes, INTPs will opt to simply move on from a topic before it's ever understood what they were trying to say, rather than try to lay things out in plain terms."

Yeah I can see that, though I think I am generally a bit easier on others feelings than the description.
OTOH, I like this part. Spot on about the logic of arguing the other side:

Choosing the parts I like, I guess it is a little bit like an astrological reading. An odd juxtaposition arises with ENTPs, as they are uncompromisingly honest, but will argue tirelessly for something they don't actually believe in, stepping into another's shoes to argue a truth from another perspective. Playing the devil's advocate helps people with the ENTP personality type to not only develop a better sense of others' reasoning, but a better understanding of opposing ideas – since ENTPs are the ones arguing them.
I just thought it was that you were American...Felgerkarb wrote:And for those who (rightly) point out I can be all over the place sometimes in my political discourse:

Same as me mate. INTP, there are only 3% of us. I feel sorry for you.
You don't get an Einstein without breaking a few eggs though.
Now I know we are on the same team. I can post something you were asking me about before - how a democracy can turn into a tyranny. Not specifically about it, but along the lines. Serendipitous find from the CD initially, but I got the first chapter from the book here; http://www.sunypress.edu/p-6305-behind-the-facade.aspx. Interesting read.Felgerkarb wrote:And for those who (rightly) point out I can be all over the place sometimes in my political discourse:

Here's the excerpt from the CD on Cambodia https://www.cambodiadaily.com/weekend1/ ... cs-119582/

a few years ago when i did this, i got INTP or INTJ, introvert etc. However, since stopping drinking, i am less sceptical and introverted, so It has probably changed, in fact I know it has.
But the Meyers Brigg test is still v useful, if flawed (what isnt "flawed"?). I have been learning quite a bit about astrology recently, and it am coming to see it is not the bunk I thought it was.
So, comparing it to astrology is not a negative in my books.
The big box chains screen all applicants using psych tests that must be completed on-line. Other employers do the same, one way or the other. Its true that Meyers Brigg emphasizes positive
characteristics, but that is part of its universal appeal, and marketability. I think it will probably not be damaged by this salvo from Smithsonian.

I got the same results on the full Meyers Brigg that I took when in the government...almost maxed intuitive.
I can see why I irritate people when I say things but provide no logical path to the conclusion. We don't do A B C D E....we go A...B...oh, I see....E...which makes people crazy sometimes...but it helps finding the bad guy in a pinch when you only have A and B.
