He was my go-to guy for years, but service has gone down the poopoo drain as of a year ago. Can't say I recommend him anymore: a shirt takes 4+ weeks (mañana mañana every two days), pick out a colour, come back to pick up and "sorry, don't have that colour anymore", some problems with fit as well...

How much is that Alice place?
Agreed. Used them for years. Last couple of times they sucked
Recently RiceCakes has switched to using,

Heng Heng Lucky making all kinds of Shirts and Circus Marquees Co. Ltd.
You're fortunate not to require a Tailor now you're retired.....

I suggest you go and visit a real veteran of the tailoring scene in Phnom Penh - Mr Cung
Learned his craft as a tailor cutter under the French.

Mr CUNG - Tailleur HP 0928 67962
# 183 Rue/Street 110

Speaks Khmer- Vietnamese - French but NO English.

It's an old fashioned, very cluttered with work in progress, hole in the wall type shop.

Yes, Trump and Clinton.

Have you ever thought about the possibility that some businessmen may actually try to charge you over the market odds? I guess not.

I don't know, have you ever thought about the possibility that some top professionals here are willing to pay good money for top quality workmanship? I guess not.
:-)

Touché aside, first negotiations back in 2008 with this tailor were handled by a not-so-famous then wife who watched every dollar I spent. I've had 2-3 suits made every year since 2008 and his prices seem to increased pretty much inline with inflation.

Thanks for the concern though, it's a fair point to mention there are cowboys who can't wait to fleece a dumb foreigner; but this guy is not one of them.

Just as a quick reference , here are the M&S tailored suit prices.http://www.marksandspencer.com/l/men/me ... ilored_fit

From around $130 - 500 for a suit you can take back if it has any problems. What do you think inflation is running at?

Hmm, a massive international retail chain vs a one man band ... I think there's something to do with economies of scale here (and those figures are GBP not USD?)

I've taken suits back to that tailor for adjustments, no issues and free of charge. Anyway, up to the buyer ultimately - recommendations were asked for, I gave what I think is the contact for one of the better tailors in town, and I've had suits from Armani, Gieves & Hawkes, Christian Dior & Hugo Boss before; I like to think I know a good suit when I see one, but as with everything in life, we all like different things. What I like, you might not, and that's ok :-)

Fuck. I wish I knew how to post a picture of an asshat.

Do you have any comparisons of fruit prices here and at M&S, seasonally adjusted? I'd mostly be interested in a pineapple comparison.

Ok, let me spell it out then. Cambodia is not a country to buy a cheap suit in anymore.
Prices I posted were a US $ rough conversion from the pound Spigsy.

Where exactly is Adam Tailor? Went up Monivong today but didn't see it. Roughly which intersection?

Where's this guy? Drove on 110 but didn't find him either and the number was out of service. He's old-school, but has he kept up with trends or will one of his shirts make me look like a 90s Khmer pop star (minus the matching hair)?

Will go to EMT tomorrow to have a look.

Where’s the best place to get some clothes altered? Not looking for a new suit or anything fancy, just some pants hemmed and a shirt or two taken in.
