1st time back since 2010... what to expect??
I live in the states and have not been back to PP since 2010. I recently spotted a video on YouTube showing a Burger King in the airport... fuck how things change .
Has that pushed out into the city much? How is the bar scene now? I know it is quite wet out around this time. Has that affected the crowds much? I read somewhere that a taxi from the airport is up to 12 bucks now. What should I expect for prices from Hostesses, beer, food? Back then is was 10-20 LT, food was fairly cheep, and the beer was a few buck for a Heineken.
My trip is slated for 5 days so I won't be there long. Just a quick trip to get back into the groove of the place....

There are several BK's around town now Jim, not to mention Starbucks, Krispy Kreme and even a Carl's Jnr.

Pp is kinda boring by day and the nights pass too quickly so it feels like your stuck in a long ass hot humid day all the time.
Locals bored faces are locked in and it's becoming like Thailand especially 136 St where the barginl prices are more than Thailand and they allow dancing girls with makeshift platforms.

For your own sake, please stay away!
Things here are worse - far worse - than you can even begin to imagine:
Mighty herds of Western ageing perverts roam the plains, tirelessly tracked by Western do-goodies in gleaming SUVs
Planeloads of eager young sillies arrive every day, eager to * make a difference* and *find themselves*
Paratroops fall from the skies without warning
Marijuana pizza are overpriced
Snatch squads of hookers race out of the doors of the girlie bars on Victory Hill in S-ville, desperate to drag punters indoors
The locals fling garbage everywhere and spit everywhere
The exhaust fumes of 1,000,000+ motorbikes in PP would gag a maggot
The entire populations of Shanghai and Pusan attend the photo opportunity at sunrise at Angkor Wat, elbowing one another savagely
Ancient Britons sip Zorok beer outside supermarkets, mumbling to one another about better times
... and that is just the good stuff ...

It's over, the party is officially over. During the period late 2009 to 2013 all the hot viet hooker chicks were replaced with bearded hipsters in lumberjack and sailor outfits.
Also traffic lights galore, and public transportation, arrrrghhh.

Are u referring to changes in the country or ONLY Phnom Pehn?
to me, and i head over 1-2 times /year since 2002, i find the worst is the growing distance between the have and the have nots,
more and more sky-scrappers going up that seem to remain empty.
Changes along Riverside
Amazing growth and the expansion over on the Chruoy Changvar peninsula
Phnom Pehn expansion into the suburbs
The Traffic!!!
Kep,Kampot are the new places to be with a huge growth of western restaurants and accommodations available for the expat.
Just in the past 2 years, GH's/bungalows in Kep have gone from 50 to over 120
SR amazing growth.with 4-5star hotels going up everywhere
New roads being built everywhere
to name but a few changes u will see

Actually... that's not true. My first hole experience was very different from the second...
For reasons maybe best left unsaid...
