Lot of Burmese in Biloela, so you would probably remark "De kaung ma lay ka lan tal"Holdfast wrote:Or a Bonza Biloela, perhaps.
Sad state of nursing
Mate, when did the Burmese arrive? Never lived in Biloela but spent a lot of time there in late 70"s and 80"s involved the the then Ford Dealership, and there were no Burmese then. Just good ole bushies and rednecks and a comment like that would probably attract a smack in the mouth. Ah, the days a journey was measured by the amount of XXXX stubbies one woulkd need for the drive.

Bird is a term used for a girl by many different posters? Why am I the only one being persecuted for this?
After the taxi girl fiasco, I thought all girls were the same. I was wrong, my mistake! This girl is not a bird. She's the one.
Met this girl? Already met her several times! Better than I could ever had dreamed! Will meet her again soon! Having her is like winning the lottery on a daily basis![/quote]
When one refers to someone as their Missus, it is usually taken to mean their wife or long term partner, not someone they have met "several times".

Life is a curable disease
From around 2009 AFAIK. Heres some relevant info:Holdfast wrote:Mate, when did the Burmese arrive? In 2009 Australian NGO ACCES Services Inc. (ACCESS) received funding from the Australian Government to implement the Rural Employment Assistance Program (REAP). REAP is a pilot project aimed at relocating newly arrived migrants and refugees from those areas in south east Queensland experiencing high levels of unemployment (Logan City and South Brisbane) to rural areas of Queensland facing significant labour market shortages in particular industries (Biloela and Rockhampton). ATCR/WGR newsletter, issue 8, July 2012.
Biloela: The tiny outback town bucking population trend with migrant boom
While some communities in outback Queensland are struggling to survive, one township has experienced a population boom with an influx of refugees.
"[The] people we settled in Biloela were from Burma: they had been in the refugee camps in India, or [in] Malaysia, for a couple of years, up to nine years."
That group arrived in 2011 as part of the federally funded one-year pilot program that targeted regional areas with high employment.http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-08-30/o ... om/7798304
Newcomers integrated into Biloela community Lalrin Mawi escaped Burma and spent four years in an Indian refugee camp before arriving in Logan, but said city life left her feeling overwhelmed.
"I felt so empty," she said. She moved to Biloela as part of the program, and it has been her home for the past five years, along with her husband and 10-month-old son, Peter. They are now Australian citizens and Lalrin is currently trying to bring her brother over from Malaysia. "I think Biloela is a really good place," she said. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2016-08-30/o ... om/7798304
Robinson is one of the members of five Burmese refugee families who recently moved to Biloela as part of a Rural Employment Assistance Project (REAP) funded by the Federal Government.http://www.centraltelegraph.com.au/news ... ly/595806/
REAP settled 35 Burmese refuges in Biloela.
A report that evaluated the program deemed it a success due to the selection process of participants, the well-planned service model which has involved securing accommodation and employment and co-ordinating relevant services and agencies and the commitment and involvement of key staff from Access.http://www.myanmarrefugeesinternational ... -life.html
To hear correct usage of the word 'bird' to refer to a woman, listen to the opening lines of this:

C'mon New Kid...you weren't referring to her as your "bird", you were calling her "Birdy", as in a lovey dovey pet name.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.
At the risk of appearing vulgar, has he fucked her yet?
I know the other chap did when there was that run for the morning after pill. But has new kid taken his pleasure yet?

My idea initially for the missus to make friends with her. I hoped to improve her English speaking skills, make her comfortable with foreigners and to find out the secret of a long lasting relationship.gavinmac wrote:How did that happen? Is there an internet girlfriends support group or something?newkidontheblock wrote:Yes. No shit. She's friends with the missus.

Absolutely romantic. My missus just spent the last few days with her friend to help her deal with her mother's death and funeral. Her friend ran out of tears and so my missus cried (she cries a lot).
This morning my missus just sent me an apology e-mail. She thanked me for my understanding and said that any other man would have been super angry and would have scolded or divorced a woman for doing something like that.
How can I not fall head of heels over again and again for her?
