Mikey's bar, other red light districts? You honestly believe beautiful Khmer nurses hang out there? She wore her high heels for the recent conference on Neurosurgery. My crib (home?) is a hole in the ground. Thanks for asking.phat kunthea wrote:LOL at Newkidontheblock. Don't worry, be happy.
The 6th Annual Meeting of the Cambodian Society of Neurosurgery, at the High Sky Hotel last Wednesday and Thursday? Good to know she is showing an interest.newkidontheblock wrote:Mikey's bar, other red light districts? You honestly believe beautiful Khmer nurses hang out there? Actually I knew a girl who worked at Howie's bar, years ago. She said she was saving to put herself through nursing college. I bumped into her a few years later collecting medications from a pharmacy. She had succeeded in qualifying and was now working at a clinic.
Another girl I know is in her third year of a nursing degree and worked as a cashier at a couple of hostess bars to help her financially through her course. I think she successfully scored a "barang" boyfriend, from where I don't know, but its not uncommon to find girls pursuing a career, also working in a hostess bar to help their finances, and also having their "eyes open" for an eligible spouse .

Not always, but it is a bit murky admittedly. If you go into a hostess bar there are usually only one or two girls that handle the money, or indeed capable or trusted in that position. Of course that does not preclude them from eyeing up and/or setting up liaisons with prospective customers. The girl in question, is a nursing student, worked as a cashier and has a "barang" boyfriend. What else she gets up to i've no idea.
I know one girl who is studying accountancy, and was working as a cashier, but "relegated herself" to "hostess" to increase her chances of landing a prospective "boyfriend"

Yea sure buddy, some of the beer garden chicks I talked are also daughters of a doctor and village chief. When interrogated reasons why they chose to be a waiter or hostess answer they want to be self independence. When asked you $20 come with me ok, you get a shy look but basically means yes
So I am not surprised NKOB babe is a self respected nurse.

A village chief isn't wealthy & often not educated. They are often just local administrators who can't do admin, selected because they are obedient.phat kunthea wrote:Yea sure buddy, some of the beer garden chicks I talked are also daughters of a doctor and village chief. That's the one. Apparently the department invited her to personally attend and not the NGO she works for. And just like the international conference before it, lots of talk about how to improve neurotrama care in Cambodia, but no real practical solutions. (Establishing trauma centers in all the major cities with life flight helicopters just like in the western countries won't be happening in the foreseeable future. Mandating that all doctors be skilled in performing craniotomies isn't much help at the village health center.)Mèo Đen wrote: The 6th Annual Meeting of the Cambodian Society of Neurosurgery, at the High Sky Hotel last Wednesday and Thursday? She's at a bit of a crossroads. She's learned all she can from the hospital, but is afraid to make the leap to a western hospital. Right now she's improving her English skills for a potential overseas advanced degree.
Don't worry, be happy.
