One time I got a gift of six live tarantulas.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
30$ cash of this Ice Smoking Youn Girl I was seeing in SHV.
She had just robbed this old geezer of a boyfriend that she had cuz "she was going to go to Phnom Penh".... Then continued on that she couldnt take the bus that day cus "maybe police wait me bus station!! "
I was like thanks emm okey hmmm... then she said " I dont think you want me stay your room" and she checked into her own room in my hotel.
2-3 hour or so later she came screaming and kicking on my door wanting to have the money back,I had just 19$ left , she accepted this and went away.

My students who were all female and knew that I would be cycling around the world for the next few years gave an ornamental Chinese teapot and cups as a farewell present!

Not exactly a gift but every year on my birthday I get the weirdest 'cakes' from my girl. They differ wildly from year to year. Generally she makes these 'cakes' from whatever happens to be laying around the house and surprises me around midnight.
A few years ago she put together my birthday surprise with random saltine crackers, Pringles and a couple of old, stale chocolate cookies decorated around a dinner plate and a can of beer from the fridge for a cheers. She borrowed some candles from the neighbour, lit the candles and came into my room singing HBD.
This year I was serenaded with exactly one sliced apple, and one sliced kiwi with a flower candle in the middle of a small dinner plate. I shouldn't neglect to mention she also made up a lovely deli meat plate, with sliced pizza mozzarella..., a couple slices of some random deli sandwich meat from the fridge. For the aperitif she had on offer the last dregs of a cheap bottle of red we had bought the week earlier. Shes a keeper.

Not a Khmer woman, but my mad Thai ex once gave me a very heavy fleece jacket that her sister had sent to her from Norway.
On asking wtf I was meant to do with this garment in tropical Phuket, she said that it was too big for her (dwarf) size, and so obviously I should have it.
The last time I saw it, it was being used as a cosy floor rug in her wet bathroom

Nothing strange or interesting; a foot-long plastic grandfather clock replica for my 28th birthday, accompanied by a plastic rose.
Still have the rose.
Still have the rose.

Not all of us care who it is, why don't you move on? I find his stories entertaining.DetroitMuscle wrote:DanCooper wrote:I was briefly leasing an independent contractor from Rose Bar around the time of my birthday when one day she sweetly inquired as to what I might enjoy for a gift.
Having recently lost a fair number of kilos, I said that a nice shirt and pants wouldn't be out of order.
Day of reckoning arrives and I am presented with a lovely gift wrapped long sleeve, button down, collared shirt and about a half dozen roller-ball pens of varying colour, bunched together and tied with an indigo shaded bow.
Apparently 'pants' and 'pens' have similar acoustical linguistic resonance to the young Khmer ear.
Whenever you read this asshole's stories he always tells about fucking Khmer women..... just remember, it is 5 foot 6 inch Andy in Asia talking..... then proceed to laugh.
The problem with the world is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

She gives me what she can which is her constant care and attention. I'm glad about it, because I am not all so 'gifty' either, however, I do the normal buying her clothes, shoes, purses, basically taking care of her needs.
But before I met her, I asked her to buy me a 'krama' She didn't know what that was. She told her mom what I wanted, and her mom offered to go with, but she wanted to do it herself.
I was happy to receive it, and wore it proudly as we went around, me with big eyes.
She laughed the other day as she recalled, how we were visiting at Tuol Sleng S-21, and I had the Krama of Brother # 1 around my neck. haha.
