Cool story bro! Could make a great Home & Away new episode.
"I brought my pants to a 3000 riel per kg laundry place, an honest cleaner doesnt have any washing machine, thoroughly check my pockets, found $250, put it aside, hand washed them and put them back in."

show me where I made a tongue in cheek comment the money was mine all along.gavinmac wrote:No, his original post said this:Pork Hunt wrote:
Think you've misunderstood his op Gav. He's implying (quite rightly) that he is the stupid foreigner that left the money in his pocket and not someone else. It's just more attention whoring from a deadbeat bullshit artist on the bones of his arse and Playboy, Joon and Logos should take him out for a drink like they stated, then no one will have to read his fucktard questions on here.
Then someone suggested he return the money and he made a tongue in cheek post suggesting that maybe it was his money all along hahaha.GaryH wrote:Just opened my bag of clothes back from the laundry, put on my pants, put my hand in my pocket and pulled out $250.
Some most likely extremely poor Khmer person opened the laundry of a foreigner stupid enough to leave money in his pants when getting them cleaned, finds $250, cleans my clothes, then puts the money back in my pocket? That's crazy but it's the only thing I can assume because the money doesn't look water damaged at all.
How long you been in Cambodia now? And yet you believe some poor laundry worker washed my clothes, then she just happened to have $250 in cash on her, folded the cash in 1/4's and put it in the little coin pocket thing on the front of my jeans, the same exact way I do, folded my jeans neatly, put the jeans and money in the bag and gave it back to my hostel. To you that story makes more sense than I just forgot I had some cash in my pocket. You're a weird fucking dude the last few days. How old are you? Pills losing their effectiveness?
What denomination were the bills?

I think you're right, I feel like giving them $10 or something would be the right thing to do. I'm really not sure who did the laundry though, I gave it to the guest house I was staying in but they didn't have a laundry so they took it somewhere else. I think finding the exact girl who did my washing would not be easy almost a week after the fact. I don't feel the guest house was staying in was that honest, I don't feel they'd pass it on to the right person.PorkPiePorn wrote:My wife who makes considerably less income than you forgot her things at her Chinese class the other day. She promptly gave him $10. I surely hope you will see fit to do similar.GaryH wrote:Return my money?Edwardo wrote:Did it occur to you to return the money?
I was stupid enough to leave money in my pants and send them to be cleaned, Insanely honest Khmer person cleaned the clothes then put the money back, then I should return the money?
Honestly part of me hopes there was more than $250 in there and they took a few bucks, does that count?

They're thick denim jeans so not something I'd wear in this heat often so I remember the exact night I was last wearing them. I was at Corner bar with a foreigner from the expats in cambodia facebook group. I'd say there's a chance I jammed the "big notes" in that little pocket so when I was drunk pulling out my wallet to pay for drinks the girls didn't get a look at cash, but I'm just guessing it was a while ago and I was drunk. I am confident the money was mine and not some poor laundry girls yearly savings that she accidentally folded up and put in my pants as others a claiming though, it was folded in 4 the way I always do so it fits in the coin pocket. And I have a habit of forgetting cash in that pocket
I'm really surprised people are having a dig about this thread. I was just amazed by the honesty, I think it says a lot for the Khmer people. That money would have been gone if I was still in China, even if I remembered it later and went back and asked about it they would have just said "prove it"

English isn't your strong point is it. Read again kid, guest house doesn't have a laundry.phat kunthea wrote:WTF, dont want to instigate, but dam! Your OP read you forgetfully put 250 bucks in your pants and it was returned after your pants was washed. How was that go to do with anything to do with distrust on the guesthouse cleaner when you simply wanted to get your clothes washGaryH wrote:I think you're right, I feel like giving them $10 or something would be the right thing to do. The laundry I trust completely, for obvious reasons.
I have no idea what laundry my guesthouse used, they don't have their own.
The guest house were a bit dodgy, I wouldn't trust them to give the reward to the laundry for me.
We're not talking rocket science here, keep up.
Although I could have misread what you said I guess. Deciphering slightly coherent broken English rants isn't my strong point.

Read previous post too quickly hence deleted my reply before I saw your above post. Its cool man. You got a lot of adventures since your short arrival more than others I know. Keep the story coming.

I might suggest they never left your pocket; notes these days don't really get water damaged, do they? i.e. virtually indestructible.

Let's see since I arrived I have asked the forum where to rent an apartment, the names of some local foods, vaguely alluded to a problem with my visa in China, about whether it's safe to ride my motorbike and a good will story about the honesty of some khmer girl. That's a lot of adventure? Fuck me what a small world you live in if that is adventurous. Unless, there was some other reason you could be possibly looking for the smallest little things to argue with me over. Wait a minute, someone isn't having a cry because I made a joke about slapping wives are they?phat kunthea wrote:Read previous post too quickly hence deleted my reply before I saw your above post. No one is seriously having a dig at you. Some are just trolling.
If you know the laundry give them a reward but only if you can explain why you are doing it. Otherwise you are just a foreign dude trying to give money to a laundry girl. Could easily be misconstrued.
I guess rather than honest, it just wasn't noticed.
Anyhow if the laundry is one you may use again a well explained reward will ensure good friendly service in the future.
