While it is indeed commendable that people are helping others in need, the motivations behind documenting it themselves AND publicizing it on social media are anything but selfless. An act of kindness and generosity is turned into an act of self-centered and egocentric validation.
When helping someone, the one who matters the most is the person in need.
Not yourself, not your friends, not the strangers who fulfill your immature need for likes and approval. By actively photographing, recording and widely publicizing the plight of people in need that they helped, they are even denying them some of the last ounces of dignity they had.
