The praying mantis top pick of OP.
Watched one in a Nth Queensland bar, seriously big. It stripped a big blowy like a surgeon, limbs and chit flying off everywhere, the blowie is buzzing and screaming while the mantis seemed to be grinning with this alien like head, freaky, just snipping all the unwanted shit away. If you had a two metre one, you are fk'd.

@Jackal, those croaky bugs look like cicadas, they can lay dormant for many years. find their outer shells stuck to trees when they bail out.

Some of the species hibernate for 7 yrs, some longer, the don't know how but they all emerge from the ground at exactly the same time, thousands of em. Heaps in Oz but outer suburbs.
Never mind
My understanding was that it's the little fuckers that are really bad news, the ones that pop up through the drains now and again.
Wrong?

I used to get a lot of these in my bathroom, I thought they were worms but they were really hard to squash;

I've seen Atlas Moths here in the city too.

Absolutely harmless though some species excrete a mildly toxic liquid. But you'd have to handle them real rough before they do.
Squish on sight indeed,

Yeah, as stated earlier I was confusing them with the centipedes. Edited my post to avoid confusion.
I'll probably continue to squish them on sight though, as they like to come indoors here, and scooping them up and throwing them out doesn't work; they come right back again.
Definitely squish them before they get this big ...
