recently saw this in Phnom Penh, I know they do this with beef or fish and let it dry in the sun, but this stuff was full with flies and seems to be chicken, the smell was also horrible, it was rotting in the heat!!
Anybody knows why they do this? Maybe the dangerous bacteria doesn't harm them and they think its more tastefull when meet is rotten??? Like crocodiles or other animals like their pray rotten as well?
Chicken tonight?
Must say I have never seen chicken being dried like this...fish, beef, frogs yes, but never chicken.... that's gotta be asking for trouble
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Same as, only seen fish or jerk beef done like that. Those chicken chunks don't look too appetizing, salmonella city.

I've had chicken pieces go off and it reeks, they actually still looked edible though. Maybe the owner put them out thinking the smell will go away. Won't happen.
Never mind

I remember seeing a picture from someone`s facebook come across Reddit and it was from some arrogant know nothing who posted a picture of half cooked chicken breast and was saying something to the tune of `` Medium-rare, the way it is supposed to be cooked`` Might have been a joke or not. People can be dumb AF at times.

The smell was unbearable and it was very clear that it was rotting or infested by samonela and lysteria. Would have been interesting if some bio-guy here would do some lab tests of street foods and see what comes out..
Unquestionably, Salmonella sp. would be the dominant organism.ClubBar wrote:The smell was unbearable and it was very clear that it was rotting or infested by samonela and lysteria. Would have been interesting if some bio-guy here would do some lab tests of street foods and see what comes out..
I asked four separate srey about it. They each turned their nose up and said that chicken doesn't dry that way. The only regular meats that are suitable for sun-drying are beef, pork, fish and crocodile (for the Chinese and Vietnamese market). I've seen squid dried, and water rat, but never chicken.
