Big police fines for smoking joints?
There are several reports on this Sihanoukville FB page about foreigners being fined $150 - $300 for getting caught with a joint, under threat of arrest.
Someone also reports on the same thread that police in Phnom Penh are asking for $200 for driving without a helmet.
The Kampot cops could make a killing, aren't all the expats there high all the time?

Inevitable I guess. If money can be got, the more the better as far as authorities anywhere have figured. Gone are the days of 1000 riel fines for no helmet (if you were unlucky to be stopped at all), and no more turning a blind eye to bags of pot.

For a couple of years it seems the blue boys have been searching pockets and bags of a few preferred foreigners they stop for a road check or fine. Apparently when ganja bags were discovered 2 to 300$ were asked for ending the matter on the spot. I know of a few people who where searched for nothing, others who paid and others who didn't when having some, a trusty top bloke even emptied his pockets only to hold a thomb size piece of hash in his hand until it was over.
I always wondered about the legality of these trafic police belongings searchs. I usualy don't drive around with a bag of canabis, nor do I get much controlled in town but I would certainly make a fuss out of it if it was to hapen to me.

I wonder what happens to the fines. Do you think the police spliff the profits?
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

Don't you know a few SR blue officers ? Must be a comparable quite small department too. In case you wish to create bonds, starting with a few beer cases gift at chinese new year is a good idea

I have never had problems with the BiB in Temple Town. If I ever did: I have pretty good relations with some quite important peopleBarang_doa_slae wrote:Well.. for the local ones, they know me well enough but the high season reinforcement can always be trickier if no big beer belly familiar face around.Hanno wrote:I am sure the coppers would be duly impressedBarang_doa_slae wrote:but I would certainly make a fuss out of it if it was to hapen to me.

I am sure they would but I use my regular Tuk-tuk drivers and have never had a problem the few times I crossed Poipet.Barang_doa_slae wrote:Are you implying that no tuktuks, or poipet border police officer dare try to set you up ?Hanno wrote:I have never had problems with the BiB in Temple Town. How times have changed, $200 used to buy you 10KG weed from the police in Sihanoukville.
None but ourselves can free our mind.

Tampico 2-step ditchweed, mebbe.
A shroud has no pockets
These fucks are destroying tourism in Sihanoukville.
They even stopped some codgers in a tuktuk and got them to empty their pockets.
Funny though- you can buy morphine right across from Charlie Harper's bar in the pharmacy.
Presumably legal- they do a roaring trade.

I doubt that but there is always cheaper... On my very first day in Cambodia I found 3kg of good compressed weed along with a bong and a farewell note in the derelict independance hotelVisser wrote:How times have changed, $200 used to buy you 10KG weed from the police in Sihanoukville.
