Apparent double suicide of British man and woman, Rob Wells and Imogen Goldie-Wells, in Sihanoukville
Nothing to do with science. People commit suicide because they have unanswerable (so they believe) questions. Suicide is existential in origin. Science can explain why you have a pimple, but it cannot tell you why you are feeling miserable about that pimple. Sicence is unable to answer existential questions. Only you can.orde wrote:I'm with you on the existential stuff but I think with the above statement goes beyond philosophy and into science. Yes, but.
There are plenty of bung units out there (actually, even on this forum) whose chemicals are out of whack; ergo as are their thought processes, so their actions are out of whack.
My god fearing mate would say that their outlook was one of weakness, thereby allowing the demon of suicide to enter their psyche; but then he's really farken crackers

I can understand your perspective and agree with almost 100% of it most of the time. I struggle sometimes with your presentation of your thoughts as being the only real truth. At the end if the day, it is still just a theory. What matters is that you believe this. It is how it is for you....and that makes it so.Tano wrote:Yes, but.Joon wrote:^ This. You seem to accept this emotional roller coaster as inevitable, be it male (sexual desire) or female (mood swings). You seem to think it is beyond a human ability (male or female) to dispense with being the subject of own body's whims. You think that the madness caused by the play of chemicals in every human out there is the norm.
This norm is what starts murder, war, population misplacement and starvation, abuse of children etc. etc. The overwhelming majority of humans mindlessly plough through life in complete madness and believe it is the norm, because why? we are the majority! The majority can't be wrong!
Wrong. You here are the Alpha and Omega of everything that takes place. Without you - there is no universe. Don't believe me? Close your eyes.. where is the universe now? Imagine you are dead... where is the universe?
Mind over Matter. While it cannot cure cancer or conjure up a chest of gold out of thin air - it can, absolutely and without any doubt, help you to be your own master. In that space hormones do not bother one and mood swings are absent.
I dont' inhabit that space all the time. I straddle many perspectives. I get your stance though

It is not 'theory'. It is factual and experienced.violet wrote:I can understand your perspective and agree with almost 100% of it most of the time. Have you noticed an interesting phenomenon? People only recognise that which they have a prior experience of. Anything unknown and unexperienced remains concealed. Interesting huh? So is with Truth.
Do not believe anything I say or anyone says, for that matter. Find out for yourself. Or not. You have the capacity and you are looking, without even knowing it yet.
Good luck.
Well, 'demon' is a symbolic representation of inner struggle, which most religious nuts have been taking literally and completely out of context for hundreds of years.kinard wrote:Yes, but.

It is all rather simple, but made complicated in the absence of Clarity.

Tano,
...not arguing, just discussing.
As with truth, until it is experienced, what there is, is the truth, the fact. The truth and fact for the goldfish in the goldfish bowl is that is their world. That and a little that is seen outside of it is all their is. So it is true for them. You have a different truth from different experience. I have experienced things that allow me to understand what you are talking about....but is your fact based on evidence/experience the end of your bowl or is it still falling short of a greater truth? How can you know it is not, as you have not experienced more yet?
My point is, whatever we believe or can comprehend is our truth until there is cause to change it. So, when you speak as you do of 'fact' it is a little misleading to the masses, no?
Pausing to think from your perspective....you are not denying the little truths along the way but instead are stating that the existence of your truth/fact is overriding and if there is more, it does not negate the fact/truth of your experience.
PS of course I know I am looking!

gee wiz. I just returned from the US after a relaxing end of year holidays and promised myself not to look at 440 during my break. I looked today after getting back to Cambodia and I think I want to go back on holidays. Is it just me or is this site becoming a site for death, injury, despair and doom & gloom. Slash my wrists already!

Unlike you with your jolly perspective. I am told those who see rainbows and dairy dust see it even when confronted with doom and gloom.texansteak wrote:gee wiz. Me? I like bleak. I also like beauty. Go on, give K440 a beautiful lift. Note well that you are commenting in a thread where two people chose to take their lives, so pink tutus probably should go to another thread perhaps.
