Couple sat behind me in the coffee shop just now, midday on a Monday in Phnom Penh.
Him, American, mid 50s, slow southern drawl.
Her, Khmer, early 20s, dressed for a night on the town/or a day at the beach ...
From their conversation they are house hunting for their first place together.
Currently she is renting a single boxroom for $120/month.
Having looked at a few places this morning, she has her favourite, a two bedroom serviced apartment.
His objection to it is the cost, $1,800 per month.
She is being a bit of a brat about it, 'oh you not love me'
I can guarantee two things will happen:
1) by the end of lunch they will be heading back to put down a deposit on the $1,800 place, and;
2) they will have broken up before the end of the lease.

If you can afford $1,800 for rent, you can afford to not be in Cambodia.

Plenty of professional expats pay that, or more, for their accommodation - or more accurately, their companies pay it as part of their packagefiny wrote:If you can afford $1,800 for rent, you can afford to not be in Cambodia.

Do you know that its a proven fact that a woman's pubic hair is stronger than high tensile steel.
Really?
Yes it can pull a man half way around the world!

That's it, I'm leaving.
However the sad part is that she will be living in South Australia and in doing so the IQ level of the state will actually rise by 1.37%
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

South Australia? Don't tell me MicMac is gin&tonic or jamie44. IF the latter than would she choose to double barrel her name (Jessy101-44)?

I don't think it counts if your company pays for it.
