Well most are a tough breed:)
most of the gold mines in aussie are out back and a long way from cities, they are used to working hard and playing harder,i spent 20 years working in gold mines and my old man has owned a gold mine for over 50 years and from my experience,(especially in the years long passed) miners are the salt of the earth, most are top blokes in deed but maybe a bit rough around the edges,i actually know Peter and he is a very quite man and never seen him in a fighty mood, maybe they served him warm beer?
if they served him warm beer that would test most aussies to the breaking point.
maybe worse they tried to over come the warm beer with ice?

What about those Aussie miners who got arrested for drunken fighting on a flight out of here, must have been about 8 or 9 years ago ?gavinmac wrote:Why are these gold mining guys so fighty? We had one last year too fighting at the Katy Perry pizza cart:

To be fair though, he also did some stuff that that was totally out of line: there was apparently some kind of disagreement with a waiter or something earlier on, and no tip was left.gavinmac wrote:According to the other website's translation he "destroyed lights, fan and plastic chair inside the police station and strangled a police officer as well as punched another in the face."

How many mining companies are there? I thought Angkor Gold and that other in BKK by Katmandu were the only ones. All they seem to do is a bit of exploration, then send a few samples for assay tests abroad. I don't see how they make any money. If there were significant commercially deposits around I'm pretty sure they would have found them by now.

Video I saw had a little poncey Khmer dude with a cut lip whilst big tough miner had the back of his head cut open and bleeding profusely. Great fighting technique. Maybe fans fight back?

By that you're referring to the infamous "bananas in pyjamas" airplane incident? The new Aussie top blokes, just don’t cut it compared the the old top blokes.Playboy wrote:What about those Aussie miners who got arrested for drunken fighting on a flight out of here, must have been about 8 or 9 years ago ?gavinmac wrote:Why are these gold mining guys so fighty? My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

The first video shows the aftermath of the brawl outside Paddy Rice. It seems the drunk Aussie guy has had a problem with the local guy in the white football shirt who has a busted lip. Maybe he's the barman? The Australian guy keeps being antagonistic towards him before he goes off on the cop bike. Apparently he hit the barman and a few local guys piled in, I'm not sure if they are in the video. There's a guy in an ARMY jacket and fatigues and another scruffier looking guy in a camo jacket who seem to be trying to take control.Video I saw had a little poncey Khmer dude with a cut lip whilst big tough miner had the back of his head cut open and bleeding profusely. This next one shows him in the Police Station on St 5 by the corner at 110. This is more interesting. The scruffy guy is getting asked about his credentials, and they compare their police ID with his one which they say is fake. You can see a belt with cuffs and a couple of Icoms, one with an an army sticker. Then they start quizzing the other guy about what army unit he's from.
While this is going on one police officer with a selfie-stick is filming various parts, but mostly the Australian. He starts losing it and pointing his fist at the cops, who shrug it off and laugh a little.
I think that it was after this video ended the following occurred, perhaps with some coercion but the man seems very aggressive.

So other people can watch it? Any incident these days, big or small, is likely to be recorded for that very purpose. Gone are the days of dying a dignified death after a dumper truck with no brakes drives over your head and mushes you into the asphalt and dust. While you bleed to death you can look forward to your final conscious moments, surrounded by gawkers pushing their camera-phones in your face and laughing and joking among themselves. They might even take a selfie with you in the background, you could get thousands of likes for that.violet wrote:Why do they upload this stuff to YouTube?

I will add more words to my original question.
Who is filming? Police? I find it odd that police put these on YouTube.
Not police but a member of the public? I find it odd the police allow it...but not so odd in Cambodia...pay them...film it.
