Where do you want to retire?
Somewhere in Europe before the fucking Brexit.
But it's okay, I doubt I'll make it to retirement.

You know that would be sometime before April 2019? Doesn't seem like a very realistic time frame.finy wrote:Somewhere in Europe before the fucking Brexit.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
I'm quite happy with Prek Leap so far, at least the girls have strong legs
On the downside Pizza Company opened an outlet near where I live

A double retirement for me. A small house in Yorkshire to enjoy a few months a year in the UK and enjoy the cold weather and the rest of the time in Asia, most likely Flipland. Bagiuo or close by. Maybe somewhere near the beaches of Sison.
I spent a week in cape Town a few years ago. Loved it. Great food, inexpensive high lifestyle. Plus those black babes were extremely friendly, which never hurts. But it's probably better for a holiday than living there, security was an issue.

Security is no issue if you have money. Live in one of the luxury condos at the V&A Waterfront and life is good.logos wrote:I spent a week in cape Town a few years ago. Loved it. @scobienz: rents have gone through the roof.

I almost edited my post last night to include the fact I haven't looked into Japan's visa at all. I just had a feeling, being a very homogenous society, the long term visa situation for foreigners would be hard. I admit- I have no idea at this point if our dream to retire in Japan is at all doable. I would settle for visiting a few months out of every year then back to a log cabin up near the Flagstaff, Arizona (Grand Canyon) area.scobienz wrote:Hanno wrote:Ideally, in Cape Town but I will probably never be able to afford it. Is Cape Town that expensive? I thought the prices there were very reasonable when I was last there eighteen months ago.
I think those hoping to retire in Japan are going to be disappointed. The visa situation is tough.
Missus DM and I are both early 30s right now so I know that the global geo-political landscape is going to change drastically in the next 30 years. Who knows what the world will be like when we are in our 60s. Hopefully Earth doesn't go to hell in a handbasket.
I wanted this thread to be interesting so I said to talk about any place besides Cambodia, but for the sake of discussion, both of us are also down to retire in Cambodia. We own land in Kampong Cham province about 20 minutes outside of Kampong Cham city. I wouldn't mind building a nice khmer style house there.
Anyone who doesn't like Capitalism is a pathetic loser. God bless the USA and no place else.

I have heard that the crime rate/gun shot crimes are on par with Detroit in Cape Town.

for me it was always about retiring and cruising the world.so its the 7 seas for me,from a very young age i would dream of the day i retired from the daily work and sail the seas on my luxury yacht, with my all female crew,we would only dock every month or so to take on more supplies and a fresh crew if needed:)
its a dream i shared with my long lost school friend so hopefully hes yacht will be ready also and we will meet up somewhere on the oceans.
