Oh and a piss poor choice of photo too, considering.I recently started travelling south east Asia about early march time I entially travelled to Bangkok through to camebodia and up to Vietnam, over the course of a year I had saved money up from my job in order to travel south east aisa for approximately 4 - 5 months, unfortunately I have had to cut my travels short due to my passport being damaged and along the way I have endured one of the worst experiences off my life, on the 12th of April I flew from Hanoi to Bangkok where I was planing to go to sonkran festival in Chiang mai and meet up with some friends from home, when enetering bangkok I was told I wasn't allowed to enter, I was with another friend I told him to leave me, I was taken down to the immigration refusal room and told I had to fly home so I contacted the British embassy to see what they could do to help I went through to the emergency line which took me through to the London foreign office not the embassy, I asked if they could were able to bring me an emergency passport to allow me to carry on travelling however they advised they can not do this and they actually told me to hurry up at one point when speaking to the staff at the airport while they were on the line, I was obviously very upset but they suggested to fly back to Hanoi as this is were I came from so I did this but had to stay in Bangkok for a night which cost me £15 as this was the next available flight, they took me too the immigration refusal room and then advised me too book a flight which I went ahead and paid approximately £100, the room I stayed in was like a prison I wasn't allowed to leave the room in till my flight they provided me food and warm water the bed had cockroaches on them and it wasn't a pleasant place too stay I also had no wifi and wasn't allowed access to my baggage, the next day a member of airport staff came to the room to escort me to my flight, she brought a ticket for a flight with her which I was confused by as I had already purchased one and showed this to the staff at the room who did mentioned that this ticket wouldn't allow me to fly back to Hanoi, I was therefore forced to purchase another ticket and was unable to get a refund on my ticket, I was then escorted to my flight I was unable to acsess my passport as it was given to the stewards on the flight, I arrived in Hanoi and they took me too boarder patrol where they looked at my passport and decided I wasn't allowed to re enter the country despite already being granted a visa, they advised me I had to fly home again I was very upset I contacted the embassy and again went through to the London office which advised me they can not give me an emergency passport, the airport staff here assisted me in buying a flight home, I found a flight with emirates and confirmed with airport staff if this flight was ok on several occasions as I didn't want a repate of Bangkok where I wasn't allowed to fly they assured me it was ok and I purchased a ticket for around £700 the memeber of staff who helped me told me to stay where I was and that he would come back in about an hour too take me to my flight, I waited around for about hour and a half and started to get worried so I went to boarder patrol and airport staff and for help and they told me to wait, this guy never turned up and I started contuinsly asking airport staff for help and getting told to wait, about 20 minutes before my flight I was advised I'm not allowed to fly as it goes through Dubai and immigration there wouldn't accept me, I questioned why they allowed me to purchase this flight but they wouldn't give me an answer and often just walk away when I asked them questions, I called emirates and was unable to get a refund on the flight, I was therefore taken to the immigration refusal room at Hanoi and advised that I may be able to get a flight with emirates tomorrow, someone came to my room the next day and advised me no airlines would accept me and that I would need an emergency passport to travel home they advised me to contact the embassy which I did and again went through to the London office and advised this again they advised they can't do this, the member of airport staff even said this and they said the same thing and other stuff like it's emirates responsibility as they flew me from the uk to bangkok why they didn't just transfer me to the embassy why they were still open I do not know but after discussing with the airport staff the call ended and the airport staff went off to contact airlines too see if they could accept me on a flight as the foreign office were unable to offer me a solution to get home, I had already advised my parents of the situation and as you can imagine they were upset and worried, the airport staff came back later and told me that no airlines would accept me and that I have to wait till Tuesday when the embassy opens to bring an emergency passport I advised they are unable to do this and he advised this is the usual procedure in this situation, my parents then proceed to contact the foreign office who didn't really no what to do, about 4 days past I hadn't had a shower or brushed my teeth and still didn't have access to my baggage and the only solution I got was that boarder patrol from the uk would send a letter to the airline confirming that they wouldn't be fined for allowing me to fly to the uk, when asking airport staff in Hanoi they would usually respond by saying that I had to wait for my embassy to open on Sunday evening I seemed to make some progress and me and Neil from foreign office spoke to a guy from immigration in Hanoi over the phone and this solution was offered to get me home and one point the immigration staff actually said the usual procedure is for the embassy to come here with an emergency travel document, Neil asked them to liaise with me in my room to book a flight once they had a response from the airline, of course I waited all day Monday and no one came and when I asked questions I would get the usual responses such as you have to wait for the embassy to come here, I was getting calls from foreign office asking me if anyone had came to my room and getting told I needed to chase them as if I hadn't already been doing this, I asked them to call the number Neil called but they advised they were unable to get hold off them, I stayed another night and still got no response, the next day I called the embassy again this time I was actually transfer to the embassy they had no ideas of the situation and they contacted immigration here without asking me to get there number or chase airport staff they called me back shortly after and told me they would come here and provide me an emergency passport, why I kept getting told this wasn't an option I do not know, all they needed was the flight details and they would come to the airport the next day to give it to me, I'm still in Hanoi now and hopefully I can get this flight, it did however cost me £1500 which has pretty much cleared out all my savings I worked hard for, so the reason I have set this up is in the hope someone out there can help me to continue my travels as I plan to fly back out as soon as I can get a new passport
