If you had genuine concern when you were first shown these Vietnamese girls, there's no justification whatsoever for waiting several months before doing anything about it. Girls you saw back then might have died or been infected with HIV in the meantime - that is on you now, I'd say your karma is toast. And then your best idea is to go there again, pretend to be a tourist and hope to be presented with the line-up again? That doesn't make any sense to me. You are a lousy investigator, if you are real.florian wrote:UPDATE:
Okay guys stop the BS, because this is real. I'm pretty sure this place is a front for illegal prostitution. Just went there and it's open at Tuesday 2:30 AM and there is a guy sitting outside acting as doorkeeper. The entire side of the street is dark except for this place. He's been sitting there all day. Now, why would a prostitute outlet disguise itself as a guesthouse with a permanent doorkeeper in Cambodia?
Help pls. Possible trafficking of Vietnamese women at Heng Srey Pich guesthouse

Hey I thought I'd go and check it out myself last night. When I got there it was locked up with a sign on the door saying "Beat It – We're Closed"
My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.
Yeah. I bet their 80+ year old barang husbands will be kicking themselves. If they are still alive by then.DF wrote:
Most Asian women look miserable. Nothing unusual in that. Always look 10 years younger than their age too, until they reach 40, then it goes quickly the other way.
pew, pew, pew, pew!
Many years ago I met a girl who had lived and worked in Svay Pak, and had excellent English. I assumed she had been brought there unwillingly and was delighted it had been closed. Apparently not. She had gone voluntarily, and had 'enjoyed' regular work (.....), accommodation and food, and security from unruly clients. Now that was all gone and, being Vietnamese, she was constantly harassed by the locals and police. Last time I heard, she had been picked up by police, thrown in prison ('for being Vietnamese', per her friend) and $100 was being demanded for her release. I have no idea if her situation was different to all the other girls in Svay Pak, but before you kick down any doors make sure the people being saved really want to be saved. Better speak to them first.
And she looked permanently miserable.

I did have a genuine concern but like it said they were not obviously underage, if I had seen any kids I would have reported immediately. This incident troubled me but I wasn't physically in Cambodia to do anything about it. For the guys telling me it's dangerous, yeah I know, and that's why I'm reporting this now because I just left Phnom Penh. I go back and forth, certainly don't want to end up in the Mekong.Alex wrote: If you had genuine concern when you were first shown these Vietnamese girls, there's no justification whatsoever for waiting several months before doing anything about it. It's funny how some people here try to fit people into their little stereotypes. Reality is more complex. If you're interested I'm a dirty harry kind of guy, I like to party, I have friends from all social groups and not infrequently get to see the underbelly of things but I don't do prostitution, and I think we should all do our part when we see others exploited, whether you're a highly paid expat or a "has been here too long".ផោមក្លិនស្អុយ wrote: I'm with Jamie. You raise so many questions (about yourself!).
Did you just stumble upon this place initially by accident? Why are you going to a guesthouse by yourself in the middle of the night? Tuktuk home too expensive?
If you are so concerned why wait a few months before continuing your investigations? Did you patronise the place and hope after a few months they may have forgotten your face?
Why on earth are you sharing this info on a public forum? It's not quite lesson 1 day 1 in Private investigator school is it? If it is what you say then your bumbling could well have tipped them off. Coupled with you apparently going to visit and just staring then leaving then cruising past the place in the middle of the night. Any chance you might have tipped them off - or do you wear a disguise?
There are people in Cambodia equipped to investigate this - you aren't one. As Joon said report to CPU and stay the hell away.
From your account I would seriously question if you actually are concerned and want to help or you just want to have a cool story to tell.
This incident when I was first in the was over a year ago, I regret waiting, but like I said I wasn't in Cambodia.
You'd actually be surprised how things like this go on for many years because no one has the balls to do anything about it.
I'm posting this on a public forum so as many people as possible see it. I seriously doubt those people who run this would be sophisticated enough to read this forum.
I'm sure some people here aren't angels and may have visited this place as clients, I would appreciate if they could give info anonymously.
Thanks Joon, I will refer this to authorities I'll just wait a bit to see if there's any more info.
I'm sure Svay Pak was many things for many people, do you think the child prostitutes also 'enjoyed' it?RBD wrote:Many years ago I met a girl who had lived and worked in Svay Pak, and had excellent English. Ah FFS, not being a regular of SP I have no idea. I never said working in SP was like working for Apple. My point was that her viewpoint was wholly unexpected - she actually preferred the regular income, accommodation, food and security of SP to the lack of income, accommodation, food and security of living on the streets. And she also did not like the constant harassment experienced for being Vietnamese and presumably without papers. Did I really have to spell it out?florian wrote:I'm sure Svay Pak was many things for many people, do you think the child prostitutes also 'enjoyed' it?RBD wrote:Many years ago I met a girl who had lived and worked in Svay Pak, and had excellent English. And my 'enjoyed' was ironic. Did I have to spell that out, too?
Anyway, don't forget to wear your cape when you bust the door down, Batman.
