A guy called Danny Browne, presumably some kind of business owner on Koh Rong, has posted the most bizarre accusation about a Japanese NGO called World Theatre Project on the Koh Rong Locals and Expats FB group today.
Hey! Hope your all ok. One of my friends has recently worked with a Japanese Organisation called "World Theatre Project", which operates in Cambodia. He has reported them to both the French and British embassies as they are using the Organisation to facilitate child sexual abuse and grooming by internationals to Cambodian children though school visits. As Cambodia has high rates of child trafficking and slavery, sadly this is not unusual, but if they come to koh Rong or you hear of them operating in your area, please warn you community. Also the main perpetrators tend to be male and from developed countries, so if you see something or someone's acting weirdly, please contact the embassy to report them or for advice!

The World Theatre Project seems to be run by a group of young Japanese kids, and they organise film shows for kids in Cambodian villages and communities. Bizarrely, most of their showings seem to be Japanese anime movies, dubbed into Khmer. That sounds horrific, but I'm just being churlish there.
Here is their website. https://peraichi.com/landing_pages/view/worldtheater-pj
Anyway, it's a pretty serious accusation. I hope he has something to back it up other than a vague 'my friend told me' . . .
World Theatre Project
I assume they are showing the kids harmless anime and not hentai, which I believe is the tentacle cartoon porn type stuff. Probably funded in part by the Japanese government to promote Japanese culture overseas and improve their image abroad. Costs next to nothing if you get college kid volunteers to travel about showing it. Hopefully they aren't also bombarding the local youth with J-pop "music" too, because that should be a crime. Serious accusation there about the potential kiddie fiddling.
"The final straw actually involved my mortal enemy vladimir, who you may or may not know is an insufferable, overposting asshat."

Considering they've had a decent write up in the Japan Times http://www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2017/0 ... countries/ and have some solid sponsors, I'd be a little wary of pushing stories "from a mate who has a mate who said...." Already here it has become "I've seen a story about a guy who has a mate who has a mate who reckons something is fishy."
Reporting that a potentially libellous and irresponsible accusation has been made by an expat about an NGO isn't libellous and irresponsible.
It's simply passing on the usual expat bollocks. It sounds highly unlikely to me, and I'm more interested in what the guy's reasoning or motivation is.
I see Danny Browne is from Norwich. Norwich people are known for inbreeding and everyone has six fingers. I should know because it's my hometown. He's probably a cousin or a half brother or something.

Sorry, wasn't referring to you. I meant people such as those responding with fervour to Browne's accusations.scobienz wrote:Reporting that a potentially libellous and irresponsible accusation has been made by an expat about an NGO isn't libellous and irresponsible.
