English Vice-Principal of Golden Bridge School, Mark Smith arrested for sex with a 5yr old after FB allegations
On one hand those who defend him on Facebook point to a corrupt system claiming it to be a set-up. On the other hand those who believe he's guilty would point out the same if charges were dropped.
The stories about how he was framed in a conspiracy by a psycho ex or if he really bribed somebody to get off the hook are going to haunt both him and his children.
Return to home with the kids and for ever be treated with suspicion by local authorities or stay and most likely remain unemployable on the local market.
I hope they have a better case than what's publicly known. The man is done and his chances of providing a good life for his kids have dramatically decreased.
Bless

Wait a minute...scobienz wrote:gavinmac wrote:Yes, the parents told a friend. The friend posted it on Facebook. The parents then talked to the police. Why does that matter?
It's it Khmer440's policy that names of arrestees will be discussed unless someone posts about the crime on Facebook?
Or that names will be discussed unless the perpetrator is a male going through a divorce with an Asian female? There's no suggestion that his wife has anything to do with this at all.
You are quite right, and not for the first time I am forced to restore the original title to a thread I created.
Am I your sock puppet? I had to go back and double check - but I created this thread.
The Khmer article seems to have been pulled. Link in the OP returns an error now.
Edit: link was updated, new one here:
http://m.freshnewsasia.com/index.php/en ... ate-2.html
The article also doesn't report that he was charged. He has been taken by the police for questioning. Following the interrogation and I suppose questioning of the girl's parents, there will, or not, be charges.
Also there is no filed complaint because the parents did not opt to go to the police.
However the authorities decided to investigate because people on Facebook were demanding to know what school was involved.

The details are too sketchy to allow any conclusions to be drawn, but there is one aspect of the accusation that I find suspicious i.e. that the molestation took place at the man's residence.
I don't know the school, but it is standard practice here that students are only released from schools into the custody of authorised persons. At our school, students' families are issued with a collection card, with their kids' photo and other details and the guards will only release them to someone in possession of the card. We allow older Secondary students to leave on their own, but only with the written permission of parents.
I find it difficult to believe that a teacher or administrator would be allowed by the guards to take a 5 year old girl out of the school grounds to his home.

He has children about the same age, I suspect it was an arranged extra-curricular "play date" of some kind.

Interesting to see how Gavinmac and Scobienz pretend allegations made on FB are "reported by the media" and proceed to vilify an unknown third party without any further evidence.gavinmac wrote:The Third Man deleted the guy's name simply because some of the first posters here, who don't know anything about this, said "Oh he has an ex-wife this may be a set up."
It has nothing to do with Facebook.
As far as I am concerned I think it's a shitty excuse and behaviour and I want to dissociate myself completely from it. Other guys mentioned on 440 before were guilty as hell or somehow deserved it as the accusations were on solid ground.
Not the case here and I see no valid reason whatsoever to throw a guys name to the wolves on the basis of FB allegations by one female with unchecked motivations, for all I know she had a grudge against the guy and abused her position.
If he's found guilty and the charged materialize, fair enough and it would have been easy enough to restore his name to the title. Until then it's sick behaviour, even the daily mail doesn't stoop that low.
What if Gavinmac turns up tomorrow pictured in a bar with an 18 yo and a FB pic appears with him tagged as a pedo by an NGO spinster ? I suppose it's be perfectly all right to call him a pedo here too then as it's "official news", isn't it scobienz, since you just made this official 440 policy ? Kir would be proud.
So far the only proven thing on this thread is that Scobienz is a wobbly guy who'll bent any which way Gavinmac blows, as he was ridiculed by him each time he didn't concede. He hates that and feels compelled to show that he's sole in charge and only him holds the truth. Well I hope for his sake the guy is proven guilty without a doubt, I'd hate to be in his shoes if apologies are due.

The guy has been arrested. This means that competent authorities have determined that there is probable cause to believe he molested the girl. The arrest has been reported in the local press. Why are you so offended by someone identifying this arrestee? Is it just because he doesn't "look" like a pedophile?

He was not arrested. I thought lawyers were a bit more careful about that shit.

Not for the first time TTM misses the most important point. It wasn't just reported on FB. It was reported in the media. As such all we are doing is reporting a story that has been circulating in the media.
It's not rocket science and it is no different to what we do all the time.

He has been detained for questioning. He remains in police custody 36 hours later. It is a news story being reported in the media.
How is this any different from the media reporting that various stars have been detained for questioning in the U.K?
Should we ignore it because you have decided you're uneasy with the story?

Ah there's progress, he's no longer being "charged" as Gavinmac falsely claimed.Scobienz wrote:He has been detained for questioning. He remains in police custody 36 hours later. It is a news story being reported in the media.

Where did I write we should ignore the story ?
I am merely advocating we tread carefully and keep his name in the title thread under wraps before throwing the guy's name to the wolves before any charges are confirmed. There IS a difference between being reported by the "media" (khmer newspapers that nobody in the west reads, and on unckecked FB forums) and being reported upon on 440 as "facts' on the basis that it's been "reported in the media". 440 IS read globally and used by other western media as a source of news, as we're all aware.
I therefore think it's highly irresponsable, or at the very best questionable and morally wrong, to roll out his name etc without at least hearing his side of the story. 110% kiresque.
