Plan B?
Or Panama, just to look at the canal.
And if there is a "Panama Canal" sign somewhere I will obscure the "C" and take a thumbs up picture of me standing next to the "Panama anal" and post it on Facebook, or 440.
After that I will not sure what I would do. Drink been maybe.

pew, pew, pew, pew!
The Ordinary visa/work permit issue may well become too problematic for some which will call for some drastic action.
Some will have to forgo Plan B, and engage immediately in Preparation H.
It could well be a right pain in the ass.

Most people I know would pay at least $30 not to be in close proximity with a gypsy.Piston Broke wrote:^

I am pretty glum with this situation. I spent too much time learning the Khmer language. 2 years down the drain. Useless, all of it, if I can't even spend time in the country.
I guess some things just aren't meant to be. I keep in touch with some of the Khmer ladies from my trip and may be better off in a different pool. One just told me she is going to a Pattaya for a week. She says there's beaches there, an island. Sure there is. I can't even imagine what the average 25 year old khmer lady is looking for there as compared to say koh kong.
Going to Latin America would be uniquely pointless as well. I can brush up on my high school Spanish and walk down the street. In fact, I ate at a Dominican restaurant for lunch. $7 for a chicken thigh, rice, and mixed veggies. Mucho gusto to you all.

I spent almost 3 years learning Polish. Have not uttered one word of it since 1996. Boze....merchantsmutual wrote:I am pretty glum with this situation. I spent too much time learning the Khmer language. 2 years down the drain. Useless, all of it, if I can't even spend time in the country.

When they started clamping down on visas in Thailand a lot of people just enrolled in a Thai language course and qualified for an education visa. Surely things will go this way here also. Yea it's not ideal having to spend 5 or 6 hours a week studying a language just to get a visa but if you really want to stay it could be an option.

This is actually a good way to winnow people, because it requires a certain respect for the culture. And even if you think the culture is stupid, you can gain a lot of appreciation for it by studying the language.nuksukow wrote:When they started clamping down on visas in Thailand a lot of people just enrolled in a Thai language course and qualified for an education visa. You would think so but my friend attended such a course at a language school in Thailand and there were 2 classes, 1 for people who actually wanted to learn and another for people who were there just to fulfill there visa requirements. True story.merchantsmutual wrote:This is actually a good way to winnow people, because it requires a certain respect for the culture.
