Has anyone noticed that these ABC Driving schools seem to be popping up on every block, and a lot of their cars around town? I was also down national rd 2 the other day, around the Kerry Worldbridge SEZ, and saw what must be where they store cars and service them.
Seems like a rather new development, no? And how does teaching someone to drive here work - does the instructor say "this is the law... but if you don't want to crash and actually need to get somewhere you need to drive like this..."?
ABC Driving School
Or another fine point: If you injure someone in an accident, best if you finish them off - funeral expenses are lower than hospital costs.
ABC driving schools have been around for years, even been recommended by posters on this forum in the past.
I'm not a negative person, I encourage people all the time...it's usually to f**k off! But, whatever.

Recommended for whom? Children of posters? I'm not sure I'd want my kids to learn to drive here haha.PSD_Kiwi wrote:ABC driving schools have been around for years, even been recommended by posters on this forum in the past.
The owner, a guy who goes by the name Aja A is a pretty famous and influential guy.
His radio channel ABC Radio is very popular and is a big CPP proponent. http://mom-kh.com/en/radio_media/155
Hun Sen phoned in to one of their programs last year to personally apologize for one of the station's ambulances being impounded and he even went on to donate 2 more ambulances to ABC Radio's 'humanitarian assistance program' http://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/p ... -ambulance
I'm pretty sure that Aja A was in the press more recently for something, but Cambodia Daily is down and don't have time to research.
Pretty sure that all three businesses are linked: driving schools - reporting of traffic accidents - ambulances.

That does help to explain why each car has 107.5 FM on the side of it.Rama wrote:The owner, a guy who goes by the name Aja A is a pretty famous and influential guy.

I see it as a positive sign that they've been able to expand this much, especially if there's political support behind them. Perhaps that could eventually lead to stricter testing requirements for licenses (less "tea" money?), forcing people into the schools.
I'd rather see them ban tour buses, suv's, and cars from PP. Tuktuks and motos only. Ahh, wouldn't that be nice? On a side note, it should be lawful to punch the driver of autos who blow their damn horns in one's ears while riding in a tuktuk.
