Haha - this statement and its' omissions. You're a wry one GavinMac.gavinmac wrote:Is Ned even a TEFLer? I didn't know that. Also, bottom feeders don't own expensive music equipment and have $1500 lying around to pay illiterate GSM sexpats to intimidate their landlords.
Ned says James Whitlow scammed $1500 from him; JW claimed police contacts could "sort out" Ned's dispute w/ landlord

Yes I must say how do grown adults raised in the west live like that? it was turned into a moody teenage goths wet dream, and as mentioned, that mattress.
Having seen all those screenshots what exactly happened?
As far as I see Ned trashed the place and turned it into a mosh pit for punks and got busted by the landlord who refused to relinquish his stuff without payment. Ned half agreed to pay up but not really.
Then he agreed to pay $2000 to get his items back in the meantime paying James Whitlow $1500 to sort it. Whitlow went to sort it realised that Ned had spun a bit of a yarn about the reasons for him not getting his items back. Saw the state of the place apologised and backed off.
Now he has Neds $1500 still which he should pay back for not fulfilling his duties and Ned still owes $2000 to rescue his equipment so he's able to start again and launch his Satan's Arsehole Club at another venue.

Another guy on FB is accusing Whitlow of:
(a) borrowing $200 from the guy and leaving a stolen phone as collateral
(b) getting $1400 cash from the guy's friend in exchange for a $1400 paypal transaction that was later reversed due to insufficient funds

[quote="gavinmac"]It seems that Ned rented a place that was originally an apartment. He says he told the landlord he intended to use it as a recording studio. Then he also renovated/used it to hold live punk rock or heavy metal music gigs, which I understand would have been loud.
I can just imagine the landlord saying the classic laid back accommodating Khmer words - ''Yeah, yeah, yeah, no problem, no problem!!!'' at the proposed renovation, and then one fine day he opens the door of the apartment and his jaw drops at the sheer horror of what is in front of him.

Nothing against you, Ned but we reap what we sow. I saw your post the morning after the opening night where you explained how it had all come about and what your next plans were re. the place and the landlord.
You have built up some anger about the landlord renegging on an agreement to allow you to do what you wanted for the music venue - assumed he fully understood and assumed his yeah yeah yeah sign here in agreement was to be enough of an agreement, because you wanted it to be ok. You believed what you wanted to in good faith because you wanted your dream to come true.... but if you sat back and looked at all this, you would raise the questions yourself... what landlord would spend money doing up an apartment to rent it out in order for a tenant to do what you did to it? You ignored alarm bells because you wanted it to be ok. then, when it backfired, instead of really swallowing what you created, you got angry at the landlord and posted about how you would fuck the landlord over then... 'good luck renting out the shithole with black walls to anyone else' or words to that effect.
then you got more angry and decided you should pay some bad guys to do some bad work. Reap what you sow.
Know when to fold them. Know when to walk away.
Everyone involved in the story is a scammer - you included, Ned. If not a scammer than an extremely naive and wrongly vengeful person. Do you still have the long post you made after the opening night?

The black paint on the walls is probably what triggered the landlord, he's gonna need like a hundred coats of paint to get them back to yellow/light green or whatever they were before ned moved in.
My favourite is the email exchange between David and Ned. David seems like quite the character.

The landlord posted "before" pictures on FB. It looks like he rented Ned an aquarium.Sublime wrote:The black paint on the walls is probably what triggered the landlord, he's gonna need like a hundred coats of paint to get them back to yellow/light green or whatever they were before ned moved in.
