Parking in SHV when using ferry
In a few weeks I'll head to Kog Rong Samloem on the ferry. Is there any place nearby I can safely leave my car parked for a couple of nights (figure a dollar or two a night would suffice, right?).
Why not leave you car with me, and take the train?
You know you can take your car on the train, right?

I'm afraid taking my car on the train won't help me with where to park the car while on the island.maven wrote:Why not leave you car with me, and take the train?

Question, and this might not be the right thread, but can you take your car on the train and unload it in Kampot, or do they only let you unload it in SHV?
To my knowledge unloading a car from the train in Kampot is not possible at this time.
Carpe Diem
Why would you spend hours of discomfort aboard a slow and prone to crashing train with twatpackers and peasants when you could simply drive in at least 1/3 of the time?

I’d say it only takes twice the time... but I can spend 100% of that drinking and eating and hanging out with friends...pedros wrote:Why would you spend hours of discomfort aboard a slow and prone to crashing train with twatpackers and peasants when you could simply drive in at least 1/3 of the time?

I drive between SHV and PP a lot.
In recent times the best I have done door to door is 3hrs50 mins with me driving very fast. Usually a taxi takes about 5 hours these days.
The train takes 7 hours and is IMHO way safer.
Mini vans take about 5 to 6 hours and busses even longer.

I wish the Chinese could expedite the highway construction. 4 hours used to be my average time 15 years ago with a 100kmh top speed hilux. Nowadays I prefer to take a 5hrs taxi ride as the road is way too busy for my faster car and the kind driving it calls for.LaudJohn wrote:I drive between SHV and PP a lot.

Sorya VIP coach took 5 hours from PP to SHV, its a big bus with only 30 seats, think it was £8, only the one stop, I expects longer and it was a Saturday!
Taxi can take you door to door.
A mate cam down last week in a mini bus - right from riverside took 5hrs
none of that helps with your parking question there are a few Casino/hotels around the golden lion area now with parking outside I'm sure if you popped into one and offered a parking fee you might find someone who will accept it...and bung the security guard a few $$ before you leave..
