New arrival cards at airport for the Chinese
Anyone fly in recently and realize that they updated the arrival forms, to include Chinese language instructions alongside English and Khmer?
It's not super newsworthy, I am well aware, but I thought that it was a good example of the growing influence of the Chinese, who do make up 30% of all airport traffic.
Would be interesting to see how the immigration officers respond when they start getting all these forms filled out in Chinese characters.

The huge growth in the Chinese numbers seemed to go hand in hand with the purge on the Viets. Coincidence?
Could things reverse on that front once the election is in the bag?

2018 Cambodia has for the first time made Chinese new year an official holiday as per the Prakas for paid holidays in 2018.
It replaces the Royal Ploughing Holiday which used be on May 3rd.
But don't worry, we still get the 1st of May off for Labour day.
That's 27 holidays, if anybody is counting

What’s your source for that? Sub-Decree No. 202 sets out the Paid Public Holidays for 2018 and does not have Chinese New Year, and it keeps Royal Ploughing Day.Jackal wrote:2018 Cambodia has for the first time made Chinese new year an official holiday as per the Prakas for paid holidays in 2018.

27 holidays but not all paid holidays ... depending on what date they fall on and who a person works for.Jackal wrote:2018 Cambodia has for the first time made Chinese new year an official holiday as per the Prakas for paid holidays in 2018.

You should be checking the wall of shame inside the immigration booths for Western names.Miguelito wrote:Anyone fly in recently and realize that they updated the arrival forms, to include Chinese language instructions alongside English and Khmer?

Unlikely. Can you imagine the hullabaloo that would ensue if they did though?Edwardo wrote:Oh great. Now them Chineses are gonna start coming here.New arrival cards at airport for the Chinese
What if they all went down to Shitsville and bought up everything?
The poor, upstanding Shitsvillers could be priced out of their $100 apartments. That would be really unfair.
It’ll probably never happen though.

I’ve been trying, but there’s been a noticeable lack in Western names as of late, lots of Asian names though.gavinmac wrote:You should be checking the wall of shame inside the immigration booths for Western names.Miguelito wrote:Anyone fly in recently and realize that they updated the arrival forms, to include Chinese language instructions alongside English and Khmer?

I checked my source and it is: Prakas No 493 K.B/Br.K, issued on 01st December 2017 by Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training.Miguelito wrote:

It would supersede your previous info.
