UN votes against US on Israel
Not wanting to get into the politics of the Middle East and Israel, etc, but as we all know the U.S. has made a pretty bold move which was condemned by the UN. U.S. ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said that Washington would take note of countries which had “disrespected” America by voting against it, and Trump had earlier threatened to cut “billions” of aid dollars to the nations that backed the UN’s motion. (Full list of those countries here)
The U.S. is already lashing out, announcing massive cuts to the UN as a whole, and very visibly reaching out to those countries that either voted in their favor, or abstained from voting. Say what you will about the Chinese soft power in "buying votes", the U.S. isn't even denying it, they are straight up saying "if you want our money, vote to support us, or else."
Cambodia voted against the U.S.
With the already strained relationships between the two countries, I wonder how much more AID money will be pulled -- I would expect most of it. Any more thoughts / insights on how this will affect the Kingdom?

I wasted a good portion of my time followed the U.S. general election from start to finish out of interest, and Trump trollings afterwards; though it is entertaining at time for instance the Pocahantas remark etc. it starts to get boring and I anticipate 2018 would be similar Trump deflecting one issue to another and trolling the agencies.
In term of the US aids to the Kingdom, I am probably ignorance on this but I think only a fraction of the funds had reached the marginalized or where it is intended. Ones at the top always get the biggest chunks. I have seen USAIDS (medical supplies) sold to private clinics and sold at premium price to patients, 'doctors' stole medical goods from public hospitals either sell it privately or take it to their own clinic. Whenever large chunk of money is donated the word development for the needies is echoed from the fat asses in the capital. I see none of that that shit came to fruition. Whether the fund is cut does not effect me and some others that I know.

Well done, Cambodia, and the rest of the countries who voted against this nation of nosy and meddling Americans who delude themselves into believing they are the world police.
Cambodia and the rest of Asia should move forward and impose their own set of visa sanctions against this shameless country. The nerve and audacity of their ambassador to warn nations of financial repercussions for "disrespecting" America. This uneducated illiterate waste of the female species is an embarrassing living thing.

I like the fact they recognised Jerusalem, had to happen one day. The way they followed up with the UN BS is typical though of the moron in charge.
Yeah, America First. Easy, when you're the only one left in your own party

Well, Pakistan voted against the U.S., and now look at what Trump is saying.
For those that missed it, "Following past patterns of behavior, President Trump issued his first tweet of 2018 insulting Pakistan and building on his threat to cut off foreign military financing that is one piece of the massive assistance package that the US gives the country each year."
It's funny, because not everything Trump says or does is actually crazy, and he has a legitimate point here. After half an article talking bad about him, CNN does an about-face and states:
I'm posting this here because I don't think this is a coincidence of timing with the threats made by Nikki Haley, and perhaps we'll see a lot more similar statements, including towards Cambodia...

CNNBut as a way to make it clear to the Pakistanis that enough is enough, if President Trump actually follows through, it could be an effective move. It isn't the only step by any means, but it could be the right one. Strategically, as a virtue of the $33 billion in foreign aid we have provided to Pakistan since 2002 and its status as a major non-NATO ally, Pakistan benefits from extensive funding and access to advanced military equipment.
The US has treated Pakistan as an ally. The truth is, allies protect each other and each other's interests, and Pakistan has done little on either. Its government has cooperated occasionally -- including freeing hostages earlier this year -- but the stronger trend has been a continued, purposeful blind eye to terrorist activities within its borders.
If this administration is serious about effecting strategic change in Afghanistan and precluding the ability of groups like al Qaeda to strike our homeland, then withholding US dollars and military equipment to Pakistan is potentially both necessary and expedient.
I'm posting this here because I don't think this is a coincidence of timing with the threats made by Nikki Haley, and perhaps we'll see a lot more similar statements, including towards Cambodia...
Good to see a US president that doesn't bow down to Pakistani blackmail.
None but ourselves can free our mind.
Pointless.
China bought Pakistan about four years ago. Trump can say what he wants. It's just a fart in the atmosphere.

Great for the Chinese! Now they can enjoy all the benefits a relationship with such a stable ally like Pakistan with such unified and rational population has to offer. Envy them.Pu Li wrote:Pointless.

Not interested in relationships. HTH. Very pragmatic the Chinese. Don't shout about much, just quietly go and get what they want.
Pakistan has fuck-all Uranium reserves.Pu Li wrote:Uranium.Edwardo wrote:Great for the Chinese! Now they can enjoy all the benefits a relationship with such a stable ally like Pakistan with such unified and rational population has to offer. Envy them.Pu Li wrote:Pointless.
