For sure one poster has been here since his UN Days back in the 90's. I couldn't last three years in the Kingdom without going nutty. To all those with the strong constitution to stay here I salute you.

the four of us (parents, 2 sons) arrived in Cambodia in March 1999. First year in BKK than moved in 2000 to Tuol Kork and live happily there. The sons finished high-school in Phnom Penh and have moved away, the parents going strong in TK.

Been living here on and off since 1996. Apart from the very obvious (traffic, roads, building construction etc), one of the biggest changes is that the skirts are now MUCH shorter. Hip hip hooray. Choice of (foreign) food is still great. No real change in the mentality as yet - need to eradicate another generation (at least) for that. Driving still as piss-poor bad as back in 1996, which makes me fear for the average IQ. Spoke to a guy recently who employs 200+ staff and said he had had enough (business-wise), and was on the verge of pulling out. After recent hassles with all of visas, driving licenses and taxes (the only people who have a problem with taxes are those who pay them), we might follow him and return on a (very) occasional basis - Cambodia is a lovely place for a 3 day holiday (providing you don't dance pornographically, of course).
