https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/ ... SApp_OtherThe Cambodian prime minister has vowed to beat up protesters if they burn effigies of him at a summit of South-East Asian leaders in Sydney next month.
Hundreds of Cambodians living in Australia are expected to rally against Hun Sen when he attends the summit between Australia and the 10-member Association of South-East Asian Nations [Asean] in mid-March.
Cambodia’s democracy is under attack, with the country’s main opposition party dissolved last year and the jailing of opposition leader Kem Sokha. Independent news outlets have also been shut down.
“I want to remind those who plan to demonstrate against me that my visit is an honour for their government,” Hun Sen said in a speech, according to translated subtitles.
“If they burn my effigy ... I will pursue them to their houses and beat them up.”

This guy is usually portrayed in the western press as an "activist" or "human rights defender". He was just a firebrand for rampant nationalism and racism.Lucky Lucan wrote:badboybubby wrote:Lucky Lucan wrote:What was the point of them fleeing? Nationalism is the fluent continuum of any progressive political movement in Cambodia no matter what the gay & lesbian community may think, lighten up!
In standing with the current status he was Mahatma for a populace seeking a glimmer of hope from a tyrannic rule.
There is no need for a qualified school teacher when gauging who would of had the greatest motive for his demise & his wife made no secrete of it.

The case with Kem Lay is the people want to voice out about it. There were mixed opinions among the locals about him. He was clearly an opposition, but the fact that he got shot in broad daylight could happen to anybody when you opposed. But the fucking Australia making it public again and again as offering refuge to the family doing no one good.

Philippines' Duterte to Skip ASEAN-Australia Summit in Sydney This Month
MANILA, March 5 (Xinhua) -- Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will skip the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Australia summit this month, his spokesman said on Monday.
"The president regrets that he will be unable to attend the ASEAN-Australia summit this month. Developments at home continue to require the President's presence in the Philippines," said presidential spokesperson Harry Roque during a briefing at the Malacanang presidential palace.
He said Duterte needs to be in the country to attend the Philippine Military Academy on March 18 "as he considers this an opportunity to have a dialogue with younger military officials."
The commemoration of the 14th anniversary of ASEAN-Australia ties is scheduled from March 16 to 18.
