Probably not, I wonder about hotel rooms sometimes too.

Keeps me on my toes, gotta make sure my performance is up to scratch just in case it ends up on you tube or worse.

Normally the scratch only starts after the performance

They are really cheap now and can be accessed through a smart phone. A friend got some for his bars a while back, but more to check on his staff than spy on customers.

I know of at least one well known "hostess" bar that is monitored 24/7 by someone to keep the girls in check.

Interesting topic. While I understand the desire to identify thieves in the event of a burglary or theft of personal items, I have to say I do find it pretty off-putting to have a camera pointed directly at me while I'm sitting at a bar. I used to know a bar owner who would watch the live feed of his security cameras from home purely for entertainment purposes. He once made some remark about how he had watched me chatting with his wife (the bartender) on a Friday night for "quite a long time," as he put it. Unclear if he had an audio feed as well. Pretty creepy.

I also know a well known hostess bar owner who does this. He also has the audio hooked up to it and monitors that as well.

Accessed via a smartphone and also very easily accessed by third parties who know their way around computers/smart technoligy. I.E. easily hackable for viewing pleasure....or not, depending on what you end up tuning in to.

Right?!

Surely you wouldn't hear any conversations over the dreadful loud music.

You'd have to be pretty bored to hack into a bar's CCTV.

Correct. We had an audio feed in one of our bars for a while, but its purpose was to monitor the music remotely, to check that the staff hadn’t put on hip hop crap or khmer music while the manager wasn’t in the bar. It was impossible to overhear conversations even when the music wasn’t playing loudly. Eventually the ‘quality’ microphone died and we didn’t replace it.
Our cams overwrite the existing recordings every five days or so. We mainly use them to follow up on thefts in the bar (rare), or altercations between customers (even rarer). Or to see if customers are trying to throw away or hide some of their drinks chits (more common).

Not really. You can use those CCTV's to perform DDOS attacks. Those cheapies are very easy to hack because the build-in passwords are created using pretty simple algorithms, usually stored inside the CCTV's ROM memory that's relatively easy to access. Unless you change the default password of it the chances of your CCTV joining some BOT network without your knowledge are pretty high. And BOT networks are pretty profitable.
