So I went to renew my expired 1 year driving license at Aeon II last Saturday and had the painful surprise to learn that I had to pay a 24$ fine (without receiving any receipt).
i know fines had increased since May 1st but I didn't expect such a hike and especially not receiving any receipt for that so called fine raised my eyebrow a little bit...

Yes, correct. Good to know though. But again, aren't they "supposed" to issue you some kind of receipt for that?jury wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 1:15 pmIt’s 500r a day fine so what, 8 months expired?

How bad were the lineups? And what other documentation do you need other than the expired license for renewal? I just realized my driver's license from Canada has also expired as well... so I'm a bit concerned I may not be able to renew my Cambodian license because of that.Judge wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 12:16 pmSo I went to renew my expired 1 year driving license at Aeon II last Saturday and had the painful surprise to learn that I had to pay a 24$ fine (without receiving any receipt).

A valid, current license is one of the requirements.

Lineups were quite bad as i went on Saturday: I guess it's quieter on week days.kansaicanuck wrote: ↑Mon May 11, 2020 10:45 pmHow bad were the lineups? You will need your passport, a valid visa and a valid driving license from your country of origin. They will charge you 120.000R (plus 10.000R for the "medical check-up" and 1.000R for the copy of your documents).
This is the strangest life I've ever known.
If you’re Cambo and home license are expired you is screwed.

Cheers for the replies. I've renewed my home license online but don't have the card yet. I'll wait till I get it shipped here.

I can confirm for renewals if you can't be bothered or have reason not to go out there $80 total works.

I thought I saw a post the other day from someone with a 10 Year license, but needed to get motorcycle added to it. How can one do that?

For a 10 year license you need to sit the Khmer driving test - practical and theory.
You cannot get one by converting a foreign licence.
( Although you used to be able to get one by just 'paying the fee, however that option has not been avaliable for over 10 years now.)

Would it be able to "hire" some local from the drivers license office to guide you through the theory and give hints for the practical ?Playboy wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 3:42 pmFor a 10 year license you need to sit the Khmer driving test - practical and theory.

Apparently not. It seems to be one of those areas where they have clamped down heavily.v12 wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 5:32 pmWould it be able to "hire" some local from the drivers license office to guide you through the theory and give hints for the practical ?Playboy wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 3:42 pmFor a 10 year license you need to sit the Khmer driving test - practical and theory.

Rumour has it that this is due to some issues with the Chinks over the past year.
