Is Tuborg beer failing in Cambodia?
Lately I saw a few of their green trucks around town with the massive "open for fun" slogan. But I dont see it is be sold in most Mom and Pop stores like I used to. I am not much into it but its good to have more variety other than Ganzerg, ABC and Angkor.

to be fair it does taste pretty fucking terrible. Cambodia doesn't have bad choice (add Cambodia & Kingdom to your list for starters)

I noticed recently that it seems to have disappeared from the fridges, but maybe that happened a long time ago? Tuborg is a dirt-cheap beer in Europe, last time I was there you could get a six pack of 660 ml cans for €7 or something, the next best (shit) beer was about €9. There's a reason for that, as WorldCupFever pointed out. It's fucking terrible. Some shopkeeper gave me a free can of it to check out when it was first launched here and I had trouble finishing the skinny 330 ml can. It's just fucking awful, it makes Ganzberg taste like a craft-beer.

there is tons of beers that already fill the same segment --> cheap, decent, no frills, no bullshit lager (Cambodia, Anchor, Angkor and so on).
Carlsberg group owns Angkor and Tuborg. I got no clue why they would introduce a beer that competes with Angkor in the first place anyway.

The marketing comes across abit like as if it's a soft drink to me.

Open for fun. Just don't fucking drink it
I'd imagine they came to the market, with the specific branding they have to sell to the Ganzberg drinkers
I have spoken to quite a few locals that drink Ganzberg and then tell you it is a German beer. If it was advertised as Cambodian I don't think anyone would drink it. Same as Tuborg being "from Europe". yes the brand name is but it is a different recipe and it is brewed here.

Only been here for a few weeks, haven't tried Tuborg yet, can't find any local brewed foreign brands that taste even closet to the original, the Guinness cans at Aeon cost $3-4 and tastes worse than the local ABC, the Asahi beer cans area also shite at $1.90 for 500ml, I'm not even gonna open a Tuborg, as it's known as the drivel that hooligans live off back home.. only beer that's decent here so far is the Beer Lao in large bottles at $1.65 for 660 ml. at Bayon supermarket.

Agree with Beer Lao being a good drop. Gave the Asahi a try in bottles the other night and it's not bad at all, clean taste but a bit exy at a bar though.newnewnewbie wrote:Only been here for a few weeks, haven't tried Tuborg yet, can't find any local brewed foreign brands that taste even closet to the original, the Guinness cans at Aeon cost $3-4 and tastes worse than the local ABC, the Asahi beer cans area also shite at $1.90 for 500ml, I'm not even gonna open a Tuborg, as it's known as the drivel that hooligans live off back home.. only beer that's decent here so far is the Beer Lao in large bottles at $1.65 for 660 ml. at Bayon supermarket.
Never mind.
the Japanese people I know say it tastes nothing like Asahi in Japan. that is of course to no concern to you if you enjoy the taste.RainMan wrote:Agree with Beer Lao being a good drop. Asahi was the cheapest beer here years back. Then they decided to rebrand as a luxury beer and triple the price and it virtually disappeared.
