Hi just a few questions regarding Cambodia in 2018
I am interested in getting expats opinions on Cambodia in 2018 as place for long term living and retirement and maybe possible small business ownership.
I've lived worked and travelled predominantly in Thailand for the last 15 years and have become a bit jaded with the place, I am now looking at finding the next best option regarding friendliness of locals, cost of living etc.
If anyone can make suggestion's whether a Cambodia transition is to be considered or alternatively where you'd head to in Southeast Asia given the chance.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions

Come and spend some time here. Over the past 15 years, you probably learned things about Thailand that no one else could have told you (or you wouldn't have believed them). Your own experiences will help you decide. Also, spend some time in Vietnam. Some people like it better than Cambodia. Thailand, Vietnam, and Cambodia, are very different in many ways.no-compromise wrote:Hi just a few questions regarding Cambodia in 2018

I am sooooo very sorry if you can't understand or appreciate my sarcastic facetiousness.
I agree with you that Thailand starts to be a no go area for foreigners they are so paranoid it is just sick.. Friends of me who never even killed a musquito are targeted Police is making pictures from foreigners having a drink in a bar, lately there was an article in the Bangkok post that they want to follow and track foreigners from enter to exit..
I would recommend South America..Argentina, Chili, Paraguay, Panama, or Eastern Europe there you can still make a dollar with a good business. not here you will loose your hair and health fast or slowly like most of us did here.. And I am not even talking about all the horror stories who never got published or told in public..
in cambodia you will need an extreme thick skin because they will disrespect you all the time and you can't do anything about it.. If you straigten it in a neat way they will hate you to the bone and if you do it with a bit more noice you will get arrested "faster than a burglar trying to enter the white house"
Another thing you have to accept in Cambodia is there is always noice everywhere.. day and night and your neighbours will disturb the piece often and burn all their waste including plastics so you will breath poluted air most of the time..
If you think you are clever and buy into these chinese kit buildings.. you will find out that the upper and lower floors are just concrete and you will hear building noise for years since they fix them room by room.. after one is sold they start to prep another room..
